Methinks that McConnell is going to have to walk back a lot of that. Much of it was stated during the campaign, and was an attempt to show how “reasonable” a Republican majority would be. Now he can walk back some of it that he didn’t mean, and be forced to walk back what his members won’t agree to. Remember, he isn’t Majority Leader YET.
We’ll see pretty quickly how McConnell and the Rs intend to act...sadly, if past history is any indication, they will either rush to “co-operate” with the Ds (think No Child Left Behind and Medicare Part D) or they will become embroiled in petty squabbles and give the press all the fodder they need to destroy their reputation.
Hoping that they get what the voters were saying - they need to immediately begin passing clear coherent legislation to turn back the Obama agenda - force him to veto it so that it’s all on him.
But, I am not holding my breath....
Wouldn’t it be great if McConnell could muster up a nano gram of testosterone, and put Reid in his place? Just once, as a morale builder after six eight years of being punked. Doesn’t have to be crass, but let the people that supported the Republicans, and Harry Reid know you can play the bully game too.
