“I cannot believe Ernst’s margin of victory. What an incredible candidate.

After Ernst won her primary, my first thought was “Oh no, another Sharron Angle-style candidate”

I was wrong. Way wrong. Joni Ernst can walk the walk and talk the talk.

But what I think her great appeal was (outside of Braley being a gaffe-prone candidate) was that she appeared to be honest, straightforward and sincere.

I suspect that a lot of people in Iowa (maybe more so in the rural areas) looked at that and thought “Finally, someone I can not only vote for but relate to as well”.

One small glimmer of hope in a year where Minnesota Republicans got beat up.

It appears as though the GOP will gain control of the Minnesota House of Representatives - albeit by a narrow margin.

If this holds up, the GOP will at least have something to counteract Governor Dayton and the Dem-controlled state senate.
