Happy Election Day everyone! I figured I'd go ahead and get the election day thread started. Polls open on the east coast in a little less than an hour.
Please be sure to post observations of interest if you went to the polls today.
According to preliminary exit polls in North Carolina, voters supporting the incumbent Democratic United States Senator, Kay Hagan, included a majority of women, voters under the age of 40, African-Americans, moderates, college graduates, those with household incomes below $50,000, and voters who moved into North Carolina within the past decade.
The states polls closed at 7:30 p.m.
The early exit polls also suggest that since her first election to the Senate in 2008, Ms. Hagan lost support among men, voters under age 30, white evangelicals, those with a high school degree, married voters and those in households with annual incomes exceeding $200,000.
I really like Fox News Net Gain graphic, easy to see and understand
Fox seems to be very optimistic about Gillespie. Hold fire
WASHINGTON (AP) Republicans have picked up the first of six additional Senate seats they will need in order to be in the majority when the new Congress convenes in January.
Republican Shelley Moore Capito (CAP’-uh-toh) defeated Democrat Natalie Tennant in West Virginia in the race to succeed retiring Democrat Jay Rockefeller. During the campaign, Capito lumped Tennant in with President Barack Obama, and put the blame on Obama and Washington for all of the recent coal industry layoffs.
1 of the 3 guarantees. I am projecting a victory tonight based on what is happening in Virginia
Glad to see this. She just made history.
“All working class white men and very conservatively dressed men and women. And they all looked less like voters and more like they were on a vendetta.”
I have been saying for ten days that we could se some BIG surprises in the House.
From what I have seen today, the close-in suburbs are likely to be toss-ups. That could KILL the Dems, now, and in the long-term.
WASHINGTON (AP) Republican John Kasich wins governor race in Ohio.
You probably should.
Gillespie’s running 7 points ahead of Romney’s showing in Culpeper county with 100% reporting. And I’m seeing similar surges in other counties with partial returns in.
Me too! It’s my superbowl.
Let’s go Walker! realy hoping he wins..will take the sting out if Oompa Loompa wins FL.
11% in, Gillespie at 55%. Fox is CALCULATING THE PROJECTED NORTHERN COUNTIES!
This is legitimately too close to call.
Thank You, Lord, for the WV Senate seat win by the GOP!
Nailbiter.
Go, Ed, go!!
LOL!
WASHINGTON (AP) - Resurgent Republicans captured a West Virginia Senate seat long in Democratic hands and bid for control of the Senate and a tighter grip on the House Tuesday in elections shaped by widespread voter discontent with President Barack Obama.
The McAuliffe machine will be creating votes if Gillespie stays in the lead.
