Mainstream GOP sees tipping point vs. insurgent candidates (Tea Party Are Losers)
Politico ^ | 11/3/14 | ALEXANDER BURNS

For the Republican Party’s leadership, taking control of the U.S. Senate might not even be the sweetest part of a victory in 2014. With growing confidence as Election Day approaches, Republican leaders are preparing to argue that broad GOP gains in the House and Senate would represent a top-to-bottom validation of their party’s mainline wing. Having taken a newly heavy-handed approach to the primary season this year, the top strategists of the Republican coalition say capturing the majority would set a powerful precedent for similar actions in the future — not just in Senate and congressional races, but in the presidential primary season as well.

National Republicans managed this year to snuff out every bomb-throwing insurgent who tried to wrest a Senate nod away from one of their favored candidates. They spent millions against baggage-laden activists such as Matt Bevin, the Louisville investor who mounted a ham-fisted challenge to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel, the conservative upstart who imperiled a safe seat by nearly ousting longtime Sen. Thad Cochran.

...If this fresh tack leads to victory, Republicans expect that aggressive posture (warring on Conservative Tea Party) will carry over into 2016.

Should the Republicans win big tomorrow, the only thing it means is they are place holders, occupying seats formally held by Democrats. The GOP has no agenda, no mandate. They also don’t have the will to govern.

However, it will give those like Ted Cruz an opportunity to shine and work to shape an agenda, a true less government platform going in to 2016. 2016 is the time for the tea party and grassroots conservatives to shine by nominating one of our own. We need to define the issues, control our message and set the agenda. Look to Cruz and Palin to lead.

LMAO!

So a vote for the Republicans is really a vote AGAINST the Tea Party because the Democrats and Obama make are for the Tea Party???

LMAO!

They can spin it all they want, but I do not not know many people, even the Sheeple, that would fall for that one.

In all reality the RINO’s know damn well that their time is numbered in the Republican Party. They all towed the Tea Party line in the primaries and they know it.

The next primary simply requires more moderates to run than Conservatives. If Bush, Christie and Romney all get into the primaries, the RINO/estalishment vote is then split. All that is needed is a coalescing around a single Conservative candidate. Ted Cruz id the most logical and likely of those Conservatives.

Well, that pretty much lays it out. For the Republicrats, it's power over principle, all the way.

Even if the elections aren't stolen outright by voter fraud (by the Democrats), it is apparent that those who succeed couldn't care less about the Constitution or rule of law, only about self enrichment (because what good is power if you aren't getting richer as a result).

It is pretty stupid of them to be saying so, though, before an election which might be their last chance to prevail. Either in their arrogance they think they will win, regardless, or someone is trying to scuttle the GOP takeover of Congress from within the GOP.

In a year when every vote will be needed just to overcome vote fraud, kicking people out of the tent is the wrong thing to do.

Pity they won't show this level of animosity toward the Democrats and Socialists, only people who revere the Constitution.

I reckon that tells us where we stand.

I agree with Mark Levin and Rush - we MUST take the Senate!! In all fairness, the TEA Party hasn’t vetted many of the candidates they have pushed, and it has been disastrous. They need to do a better job in the future.

The TEA Party did poorly trying to unseat RINO's; however, the TEA party did will in open Senate Seats.

FR POST

This was an art of art move that required the GOPe to defend incumbents while TEA Party scored well in open seats!!!

This nonsense is meant to discourage and divide republicans and conservatives.

The GOP Ruling Class, including it's leadership (McConnell, Boehner, McCarthy) have done that all by themselves, by their actions and their words of contempt for the Tea Party and it's candidates.

It's not nonsense - Politico is simply reporting what we already know, regardless if it is intended to suppress the vote.

The Rovians and the Leadership only have themselves to blame should they not win what they think is theirs tomorrow.

Exactly. Well said.

Some of us know and understand exactly where we stand. But it requires a constitution not infected with Normalcy Bias and cognitive dissonance.

The fruits of the GOP leadership more than illustrate they hate Conservatives and Conservatism more than what Obama has done to transform the country. They have no interest in stopping it.

Well Mark Levin and Rush need to quit letting the Leftist in the Media, like Politico, lead them around by their nose.

Trust me the Leftist in the Media is NOT who you want to listen to for political advise. They are not out there to HELP the Republicans.

I can't believe you are even falling for that $hit??? Do you really think MSNBC, CNN wants to give Conservatives good political advice? My goodness THINK McFly....THINK!!!!!!!

Don't be so freaking gullible.

.. it would very befitting, If "Reid's *itch" McConnell (himself-GOP/e) lost tomorrow to "Abortion Barbie" Grimes in the KY. Senate race.😠
The KY. Senator showed his true loyalty, to the Washington Establishment Party.😠
I've lived in KY since '69 (Nixon); proudly voted for Reagan twice, voted for McConnell in '84, he should've retired in '08..and
revived the GOP brand.

The tea party gave them the house in 2010. The gop screwed them. Then they ran Romney PLUS said they would overturn obamacare. Once the election was over they said “Did it to you again, dummies.” I won’t be voting for any of them in the future.

Who is they? The primary voters gave us romney, not some mythical they... the gope.

So you won't vote for "them" in the future, move to russia where your vote will really count.

You're not a sad American, you and many other here at FR are both stupid and bitter.

Flame away all you purist, holier than thou conservatives, all of you covered with righteous indignation and call me a rino pimp, a sell out etal....

I am a member of the TEA Party, have been to rallies with Quinn and Rose and many candidates, have been inside my congress critters offices, give time and money, been in the Army, paid millions in taxes, and hate the demonRATs, but I'm still not pure enuff for the purists.

Flame on.

Looks like it is time for me to answer a GOP fundraising call again. The best thing that could happen in this country is for the Democratic party to die. The second best thing would be for the Establishment Wing of the GOP to die. We won’t get our country back until BOTH of those things happen, and the Tea Party is best position to make it happen.

The GOPe and the Rat party has done nothing but legitimize the Tea Party by joining hands to attack it. My resolve is undiminished. Double down, my FRiends and keep going after the GOPe. Only by deceit, election fraud and political trickery has the GOPe managed to slow the election success of the Tea Party. “Remember Mississipi” is now our rallying call. We will NEVER give up.

so...

Do you think those in Mississippi should vote for Thad? You know, the guy who partnered with democrats to commit VOTE FRAUD against the guy who had already beat him in the primary and was on track to wipe him out in the runoff?

Should they vote for the guy who paid democrats who had already voted in the democrat primary to vote again in the republican primary? (flatly illegal)

Should they do that?

Well Mark Levin and Rush need to quit letting the Leftist in the Media, like Politico, lead them around by their nose.

That is an ignorant assumption on your part. They are not letting Politico do anything. They (Levin especially) have been informing us of what the GOP leadership has been doing to sabotage and undermine Conservatives FOR YEARS. , and that information has been growing exponentially.

As Rush pointed out - the REASON this is in the Politico is because someone, or someones in the Establishment WANTED Politico to know these things.

If you are going to try and tell us that the GOP Ruling Class does not want to be "friends" with the MSM and 'leak' them info on their strategy and mindset against a common enemy - you will out yourself as a low information Republican voter.

After the 2014 election, the top priority needs to be the organisation of a new Party and the wooing of conservative standard-bearers to it.

There are like 50 3rd parties already, just join one. As long as you know voting for one of them is like flushing your ballot down the toilet.

The article is nonsense anyway. It is true that some of the Tea Party candidates for statewide office were defeated by more establishment/mainstream options in the primaries, but the Tea Party still makes a huge difference in pushing the party to the right and forcing Republicans in a more conservative direction. This is especially true on a local level, and those local Tea Party winners gain experience and will go on to be better statewide candidates down the road.

It is pretty safe to just ignore all the "Tea Party is dead" stories. This stuff is just wishful thinking by much of the national media.
