$7,500 seems a bit low. Shake down artists (like Rev. Al, etc.) can usually get a few million. I guess it doesn’t pay to be an honest citizen.
“locking blade”??
How can THAT possibly be “illegal”??
I think only my Swiss Army knife is without a locking blade.
Guess they wouldn’t like my SOG Trident?

Most of my pocket knives are lock-blade, but none would open by gravity or any amount of wrist flicking.
I have never heard of such a silly a$$ed law. A lock-blade prevents a pocket knife from folding up on you in use, it’s nothing but a safety feature.
Why would free men allow themselves to be governed by the nincompoops that would write such a law, much less enforce it?
A lot of police officers apparently are ignorant of the difference between folding knives/switchblade knives/gravity knives.
If a knife looks “dangerous” they will arrest you. The absence of criminal intent isn’t a deterrent if they deem if you carry the “wrong” knife on your person.
There is as much fear of knives as there is of guns in this country.
how come we don’t know the name of those faceless government goons. They need to be fired
Only way you would get me to NYC would be if I was bound and gagged in the trunk of a car.
We have attorneys specializing in knife rights?
New York - Penal Law Section 265.01.
5. “Gravity knife” means any
knife has blade which is released from the handle or
sheath thereof by the force of gravity of the application
of centrifugal force which, when released, is locked in
place by means of a button, spring, lever, or other
device. [Note: In NYC, and potentially in other NY
jurisdictions, this definition is construed to apply to
ANY folding knife with a blade that locks open. ]

- “Accused’s possession of knife in case attached to his
belt, with long handle protruding and case sheathing blade
concealed inside accused’s trousers, did not constitute
violation... absent evidence of design on accused’s part
to use the knife unlawfully.” (1974)
