Grassroots conservatives holding their nose every year and voting for RINO’s as the least objectionable option resulted in nothing but contempt from the GOP establishment and a concerted effort by the GOP establishment to wipe out the Tea Party. This disdain for the Tea Party and grassroots conservatives became more intense after the rank & file delivered the House of Representatives to the Republican Party. In the immortal words of Mitch McConnell in 2014: “I think we are going to crush them everywhere,” he said, The New York Times reported, “I don’t think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country.”
