The most current B-52 variant, the B-52H, is the only version that the USAF is still flying. All were manufactured between 1961 and 1963. Certainly there have been ongoing updates and modernization programs, but the Russians kept the Tu-95 in active production for much longer (pretty much up until the fall of the Berlin Wall and all the Glasnost / Perestroika stuff became the order of the day).
The two aircraft were indeed very different approaches to the same objective.

Been hearing that we are about to re-juv the B-52 again. This time with modern 4 engines and new airframe design.

I doubt the Iraniacs are that foolish.

“I doubt the Iraniacs are that foolish.”
Most aren’t, some are. They are not a democracy, and there are some true psychopaths who have gained power on the religious front.
Who, in their right mind, would threaten a nuclear armed neighbor with total annihilation?

~How old are these TU-95 bombers ?~
Originally Tu-95 is based on a B-29 design withheld by the Soviets based on a Soviet-Japanese non-aggression pact in WW-II.
It is indeed a radical innovative design comparing to B-29, has first flew in mid 1950s and gradually updated until now.
Despite an archaic appearance it is about as fast as B-52 bomber and of course faster than many commercial jets and beats both in terms of range and endurance.
In short it is still a world class bomber after that many years.

The Cold War is back on... anyone wonder if Russians sabotaged the space flight?

Interesting sidebar about the engine noise and the effect on pilots.

AFAIK Ruskies have now TU-160, TU-22, SU-34.
WTF they scare Portugal and other countries have no idea. May be NATO weapons providers have bribed corrupt Russian generals to arrange some demonstration?
