In a referendum next week, voters in the US capital look likely to legalise marijuana
The fresh air of the White Houses rose garden may soon be fragrant with the smell of cannabis.
On November 4 - while other Americans are voting for their senators and congressman - residents of Washington DC are expected to vote overwhelmingly to legalise marijuana.
The referendum would go beyond decriminalisation and give the drug full legal status, meaning it may one day be possible to set up a dope shop across the street from the halls of Congress.
A yes vote in the US capital would be a hugely symbolic ripple in the wave of marijuana liberalisation sweeping America. =
Recreational cannabis is already on sale in Colorado and Washington state - where the laws are more relaxed than Amsterdam - and may soon be legal in Alaska and Oregon.

and blow up legally like what just happen this morning. I am here in the East Bay [Bay Area] and Walnut Creek just had a huge explosion. A 2 story apartment exploded breaking windows in the surrounding neighborhood. Several people are burned and 1 missing. Firefighters believe thet 1 apartment was a Hash Oil Lab [cooking a weed plant with liquid butane—dumb arses]. Now imagine those going off in D.C.
stupid and drunk has been serving the country so well, what could go wrong adding stoned to the mix.
Legalize pot and in time those will become as rare as home alcohol stills.
And I wonder about the impact on the whole DC area.
Will we see big increases in drug arrests in the Maryland and Virginia suburbs, among people who went into the District to buy pot legally?
If they bought their pot legally, where do they stand legally if they use it in Maryland and Virginia? How does this work in Washington state and Colorado with their legalization?
If you want to ponder, ask yourself how marijuana became illegal without a Constitutional amendment.
I hope Congress negates the referendum.
Weed being illegal is stupid.
Yeah! Can’t wait to see the drunken Hillary openly smoking weed.
The poisoned fruit of the FDR-cowed Court's Wickard v Filburn "substantial effect" emanation of the penumbra of the Insterstate Commerce Clause.
Now ask me a tough one.
We’re turning into a nation of brain-damaged potheads who can be easily manipulated.
IOW, just what the Dems are striving to achieve.
In other words, they love big government when it suits them.
Exactly!
"What's Jay Z and Beyoncé doing, man?"
Of course you don't mean yourself - the usual big-government elitism: 'I know how you unwashed masses should live your lives.'
Doubt it. They'd have to get up off the couch first.
That's Pot, Not Crack.
LOL
Hasn’t it already been legal in the White Hut the last six years? If it wasn’t Prez Stompy Feet would have declared it was.
