Sturm, Ruger & Company (RGR) stock tumbled after the gunmakers quarterly earnings missed analysts target by a laughably wide margin, proving definitively that the gun-sales boom driven by fears of the Obama administration is at an end.
As great a run as RGR stock had during the Obama presidency and especially after the shooting in Newtown its over. Theres nothing left to do but sell RGR stock and book profits. . . . .
Heck, RGR stock is up nearly 600% since Obama took the oath of office, and thats after a nasty selloff in 2014. Before the bottom fell out of gun sales earlier this year, RGR stock had risen 1,000% since Obamas inauguration. . . . .
Net income fell so steeply it requires a spit-take to fully appreciate. Profits tumbled to $6.8 million, or 34 cents per share, from $28.7 million, or $1.44 per share, last year.

Synth stock 10/22 $208 at Impact Guns. $206 plus $10. shipping from Cheaper Than Dirt. Watch for a Black Friday sale at a local store.
I dont think you can make such a blanket stmt w/o taking a broader look at the industry. Perhaps its just that folks are buying guns other than Ruger. Right off I cant think of anything Ruger makes that someone else does better.
Thanks...
and my sympathies on the loss of your son.
God Bless.
I got the stainless model. It was on sale for $279.00 at Cabelas. I put a Nikon Rimfire BDC on it. Pick up some of the Ruger 25 round mags while you’re at it. It shoots quite well.
Have fun.
In Ruger's quarterly statement, issued yesterday, they blamed lack of .22 and other rimfire ammo for their low sales. They also said they failed to offer discounts like the other gun manufacturers.
BINGO
The only ‘success’ O’Bumbles has had and the only business he has helped - inadvertently.
Arming America.
Gotta love it - oh, and BTW - who comprises the largest ‘standing army’ in the world? ahahah - and THIS is just the REGISTERED HUNTERS - there’s probably 3-5 times more people with guns -

pass along -
Brownell’s had Bushy lowers for $50 the other day. You can’t beat that price.
BLASPHEMER!!!
Even with the decreased revenue, RGR has a P/E of 8.11 and makes money. Do fundamentals matter anymore? Not in the short term, but always in the long term IMHO.
/NOT INVESTMENT ADVICE, just my opinion
Yup, no bias here on the part of the author. LOL.
Eventually the country will be saturated.
True, but we're a long way from that.
What I would recommend as sufficient -
For each adult and responsible child in a family:
If you enjoy the shooting sports, reaching the point of too many guns takes a lifetime. This downturn for Ruger will be short as the company makes a full line of quality firearms of all types, calibers and price points. The stock had a massive run up, so a pause was inevitable.
I don’t hunt or fish, but doing trap, skeet, sporting clays, bullseye pistol league and all types of target shooting gets me out of doors year around.
Heck, the transfer fees will add 50% to the price! And I won't get too worried about being on a 'list' since I already have a CPL. I'm on the list already.
You caught that too? ;)
Posting without reading the entire article since 2004 or something like that. :)
Can’t go wrong with a Rugar 10-22.
Got one for my high school granddaughter last Christmas.
Got a rabbit first time out
