"I didn't do this to satisfy them. I did it because it was not serving Houston."
Following a barrage of Bibles being sent to the office of Houston Mayor Annise Parker in response to her controversial subpoenas of five pastors to turn over their sermons, the city of Houston has withdrawn those subpoenas.

Why stop there?
Lawsuits and filings of disciplinary actions against the politicians and lawyers involved
This mindset must be defeated at all costs. No more delays.
How can getting back to the starting point be considered “A Great Win?”
Oldplayer
You gotta give some credit to Huckabee who came up with the idea of sending Bibles to her. Over a thousand, from what I’ve read...
This is just a head fake. The filthy rats will figure out some other way to get even.
Temporary retreat. They’ll be back.
She should be in handcuffs. That would be considered a win.
I hope every Bible came with a promise to pray for her.
Well, a RINO can do something right occasionally.
I agree.
Parker is term limited, so we’ll be rid of her in another year or so. A win would be getting rid of her “equal rights ordinance.”
A very temporary “victory”.
The left never gives up, only “our side” ever gives up.
These people will be back. They will find another way to do this.
I agree.
We know their strategy, GeronL. “our side”? Speak for yourself. I have yet to meet one American on “our side” who has given up. I have yet to meet a person from “our side” who actually believes they would give up.
Just because she has backed off doesn’t mean a thing - these Pastors need to go after her - take her to court so that it can be relied upon later that she overstepped her position and violated whatever laws that can be found etc. This is what the Libs do - they take it all the way so they can get a decision which can be relied upon later.
The mayor should be literally crucified, by muzzies, if possible.
How many Republican states have already given up fighting “gay marriage”? We will soon see how many in Congress have given up repealing ObamaCare too.
I am not aware of legal council for the pastors dismissing any litigation.
But, alas, this is a loss for Joel 0steen. He supports 0bama and delivered the convocation for the Houston mayor. Joel was one of the only Houston pastors that didn’t stick up for the real Christian pastors fighting for their faith.
I wonder if Joel is an NSA operative? A member of the clergy response team?
Why do we have a Joel 0steen thread on FR anyways?
The left never gives up, only our side ever gives up. . .
. . . he said, giving up. Yeah, and in the end, we're all dead.
Please shut up and celebrate the victory God gave us. Examining the events can show Christians in this era of judicial tyranny many things about achieving the next victory and the nextif we will pay attention, instead of casting our mistrustful eyes heavenward as we hide under the furniture.
