I don't believe that even after all the disaster of the Obola administration, Republicans would be in the running if if it wasn't clear that they are no longer conservative. The electorate which elected Obola twice didn't just turn conservative. They recognise, even if only instinctively, that the GOP is no longer conservative at all. That makes it easier to vote for them as a protest vote against the poor economy. They haven't eschewed all the hand-outs and pandering, they just want to throw a scare into the rats for not pandering and handing-out enough.

You are very mistaken. This is a center right country and our population is ripe for the Conservative message. Just consider when an actual Conservative survives the GOP attacks in the primaries, their wins are generally by much bigger margins than the middling GOP candidates.

In the last 2 POTUS elections, the GOP ran progressive candidates and there was not a clear difference between them. The message of “we can run a big government better than they can,” is a losing message.

The populace is ripe for the Conservative message of liberty and freedom. Today’s GOP doesn’t care about promoting those things, they only care about “being in charge of the big government programs.”

Did you ever consider the reason that Democrats always run well to the conservative side of the Dem message? It is because the progressive message is a losing issue when they are honest about it.
