I don't shop Lowes, never liked them, but Home Depot is just as bad! Fifty people saying "Hi, how are You" (irritating as Hell), but not a one around whose department it is when you need assistance. And their so called professionals in the departments usually have no idea what they are talking about.
The same thing goes on at Best Buy and a few other places. When I shop, I want to be anonymous.
That’s because they pay low entry wages, send a person thru a week or so of training, and BAM! You’re supposed to know all and be all about the department you work in.
How do I know, because I worked at Lowes, in the appliance department. Let me tell you, the first few months or so SUCKED! But most employees I worked with actually tried to help best they could.
When I want to be left alone to browse a store, I try to look like I really, really need help. When I want help, I try to look like I’m just aimlessly browsing, and taking up space. Seems to work more often than not.
Home Depot has to motivate their staff to actually help customers; in my area there are a lot of self-checkout registers that probably cost some of the “hiders” their jobs...
