From the hospital’s point of view, its easier to help its poorest patients get into an apartment than have to eat the costs of hospitalizing them.

Its less expensive to keep someone healthy by keeping them off the streets and on their medications than its than to have them become sick and cost the hospital thousands of dollars per day in room and board they can’t financially recoup.

So housing subsidies are going to become inevitable as a means of bringing health care costs under control.

Maybe we need “Orphanages for Adults”, where adults can be put up in college dorm sized rooms and they can work simple jobs....????

But such a program should be locally operated ONLY!

My, what a concept! Provide housing and care for the homeless and mentally ill. Seems like we used to do this. There were state hospitals that took care of such people. Then the liberals decided all these people needed to be “free”.

I think you are on to something here.../ S

All those towers of poverty in the HDA housing projects are vast lands of healthy and vibrate living where health care needs and costs are almost non-existent...
