Finally, some sense and reason. Almost exactly what I said weeks ago.

So far the CDC has managed to limit perhaps the worlds most deadly disease[a single microscopic virus can infect] in America to two cases of infection(in America) and no deaths. By “REAL infectious” disease, I am taking it that you mean a currently non-existent highly deadly, AIRBORNE disease. You may be right. The CDC is dealing with known diseases.
The US already has many infectious diseases. Influenza and pneumonia are one of the leading causes of deaths. Is that due to CDC incompetence? I don’t think so. They are trying to encourage healthy lifestyle and vaccination for prevention. What are they supposed to do? The average American, contrary to all scientific evidence and good sense eats:
Too much food
Too much fat (especially saturated and added fats
Too much sugar
Too little nutrition
Too many environmental poisons
And 70% are taking some form of prescription drugs, and many more are taking over-the-counter drugs. Then there is alcoholism and illegal drugs.
It is the American people who are completely unprepared for a REAL infectious disease.
The CDC is as inept as any other government entity. Up until we actually had a case of Ebola in the wild and health care workers got sick, the CDC was recommending only droplet and contact precautions. The same isolation as influenza and norovirus. And we know how well that works for norovirus
Their recommendations change daily, they are reacting and behind in every way. It is the grace of God not the CDC to thank for the low infection rate so far in this country.
There are real infectious airborne diseases. And at any time, someone with such a disease could also fly into one of our airports, and get on a bus, and go to the bowling alley.
The point is that Ebola is very NON-infectious. You have to work hard to catch it. It is extremely deadly. But it isn’t hard to avoid. I don’t think the CDC has done ANYTHING to take credit for the limited Ebola issues here — in fact, it seems that there are two more infections than there should be if the CDC had been ready.
We have dozens of dead kids from a deadly strain of virus that it appears our government pretty much ENCOURAGED by their treatment of illegal immigrants. Maybe the CDC is in high gear trying to control that, but if so, they are doing it in relative secrecy.
