Nurse describes Ebola quarantine ordeal: 'I was in shock. Now I'm angry'
CNN ^ | October 26, 2014 | Elizabeth Cohen, Leslie Holland

Posted on 10/26/2014 6:33:33 PM PDT by dennisw

In a separate interview with CNN Senior Medical Correspondent Elizabeth Cohen, Hickox elaborated on what she thought of Christie's assessment of her medical condition.

"I'm sorry, but that's just a completely unacceptable statement in my opinion. For (Christie) -- a politician who's trusted and respected -- to make a statement that's categorically not true is just unacceptable and appalling."

"She's fine. She's not sick."

Hickox told Crowley that mandatory quarantine is "not a sound public health decision" and that public health officials -- not politicians -- should be making the policies related to Ebola and public safety.

"For the first 12 hours, I was in shock. Now I'm angry," she added.

On Sunday, Hickox's lawyers met with Hickox at the hospital, saying they had a 75-minute conversation through a piece of clear plastic while she sat inside the tent.

"She's fine. She's not sick," lawyer Steven Hyman said in a sidewalk news conference aired on CNN affiliate WABC. "She went and did a magnanimous thing and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, not put in isolation because some political leaders decided it looks good to do

Kaci Hickox, a nurse placed under mandatory quarantine in New Jersey, went on CNN on Sunday and criticized the "knee-jerk reaction by politicians" to Ebola, saying "to quarantine someone without a better plan in place, without more forethought, is just preposterous."

Hickox, an epidemiologist who was working to help treat Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, has tested negative twice for Ebola and does not have symptoms, she said. She is quarantined for 21 days at University Hospital in Newark.

"This is an extreme that is really unacceptable, and I feel like my basic human rights have been violated," Hickox told CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union."

Toots has been angry since they questioned her health and made her go into isolation to be evaluated. She was not in shock when she came out swinging. The public missed her shocked stage if there ever was one. We have only seen the outraged, superior lefty stage.

Probably both should happen.

Hickox is a shill for Obama as his her lawsuit.

She’s an employee for the Centers for Disease Control and a registered Democrat with a history of left-wing advocacy, and did not disclose her ties to the CDC in the anti-quarantine column she wrote for the Dallas Morning News. The CDC opposes any and all quarantines because Obama told them to, and the nurse is simply a CDC/Obama mouthpiece.

This woman is a pompous, arrogant ass. She said something along the lines of “I was over there helping people while everybody else did nothing and this is how I’m treated!”. That is exactly why some of these health-care workers go over there. So they can say “just look at what I did for all of these poor black people”, “ain’t I great!” I don’t think that all of them feel that way, but some of them are definitely going over there to give themselves a boost.

There is a huge pride factor in this for some people. I think that the majority of the health workers are doing it to help and are truly selfless. However, in my opinion, there is a faction of health-care workers that are doing it to brag.

If people are willing to kill or make their own children sick to get attention, I don’t put it past some people to put themselves in harm’s way for the same purpose.

In the nurse’s own words: “I recalled my last night at the Ebola management center in Sierra Leone. I was called in at midnight because a 10-year-old girl was having seizures. I coaxed crushed tablets of Tylenol and an anti-seizure medicine into her mouth as her body jolted in the bed.”

So, with two days of travel, nurse is four days in after last, right? I think Duncan was 8 days in before he came down with symptoms, 4 days before travel, 2 days of travel and 2 days to show first symptoms?

Now if I was nursey, I’d be pretty happy I was fingertips away from the expert medical care I’m going to need if I come down with symptoms. And since, again in her own words, she “tried to help when much of the world has looked on and done nothing,” it’s surprising she is unable to mentally translate her own self-appreciation into appreciation that a massively populated country full of domesticated pets and animals would, indeed, ‘do something’ and take precautions to protect their own populations - including her family and friends.

She was told that they would draw more blood on Monday. Why she’s kicking and screaming on Sunday is anyone’s guess. But it makes one wonder how serious she’d be about a in-home quarantine. I do think they could get her a tv, tho.

Ugh! I meant to say at the end of my comment, “if there are people willing to kill their children or make them sick.” I need to proofread better!

Yeah, magnanimous, why does the bitch think she’s better than the military members including doctors and nurses being sent there who they have said will be quarantined before they’re allowed back. Lock her in the same room with the POS doctor who decided he could go and do whatever he wanted while “self-quarantined”.

She should stay under quarantine until the day that Obama is willing to embrace her.

Commanders also will be given the authority to isolate their entire unit in the region for the final 10 days of a deployment if necessary. All troops will be monitored for 21 days after returning from the mission, the memo says.<<

The nurses in West Africa were considering striking over lack of materials to adequately isolate them from Ebola, and health care workers are the hardest hit, after family and friends. It is arrogant not to recognize what the Africans are doing and seeing in Africa, and acting like what we have ACTUALLY seen already cannot happen here.

The nurse currently quarantined in New Jersey is an employee for the Centers for Disease Control and a registered Democrat with a history of left-wing advocacy, Gotnews.com has learned.

DISMANTLE the CDC. Political weaponry. DEFUND their crybabies.

Great thread. Thanks to all posters.
