Just out of curiosity I looked to see what Marines were carrying into combat in the most recent unpleasantness. Per the Marine Corps Times;

“According to a Naval Research Advisory Committee report, the average Marine carries 97 to 135 pounds in combat loads — far above the recommended weight of 50 pounds. The bulk of the weight carried is protective equipment.”

This is consistent with the loads we were carrying in Desert Storm.

Other than the fact you may have read something different in an Army pub, I’m not sure what we are arguing about.
