My son is a corpsman and was deployed on a MEU. At 6’2” 180, he said he felt like a midget. The “average” Marine weighed 170, but the recon and weps were half again as big. He got to carry all the guys in his squads— by himself. He did all the training that they had even though it wasn’t required. He enjoyed it, especially the heavy weapons, but it tears a body up—literally.
