So what’s the message? We might get an equal share of the pie so bring on the green cards?
I don’t buy it. I lived in Los Angeles long enough to have worked with, done business with, and dated oodles of Mexicans. The ‘us versus them’ thing is very strong with that crowd and once Zero starts giving out those green cards, it’s over for the GOP.
I thought I was quite clear: They are coming anyways, illegally, because of Executive Amnesty.
So let's try a little Political Judo.
He’s talking about 1st gens. and forward.
Illegals don’t count.
1st gens+ are very conservative.
They work just as hard as the next person, are very Christian and it’s all about Familia.
Should appeal to that concept of self determination.
God, family, the right of the individual and country.
You and I have the same experience. Color of skin is their god.
You want to see tolerance? Go to a social setting predominately Mexican who are middle class, decent, Christian.
Now as a white guy, try to bring up the border and the need to shut it tight. You’ll see real “tolerance”, trust me. You will be looked upon as the Grand Wizard.
Sure, amongst themselves they may discuss immigration control, but as a white guy if you do the hate will be obvious.
Same with a setting of middle class, decent, Christian blacks. Start a conversation about some of Obama’s policies that are hurting our Country and see what the response will be.
I wish it was a Kumbaya Country here in the US but that is naïve to the highest degree. As I stated earlier here, I used to believe it was possible.
“I dont buy it. I lived in Los Angeles long enough to have worked with, done business with, and dated oodles of Mexicans. The us versus them thing is very strong with that crowd and once Zero starts giving out those green cards, its over for the GOP.”
My experience as well in over 40 years in SoCal. People who equate conservative Mexican culture with conservative American politics are greatly mistaken. It is not the same thing by any means.
It is very common for socially conservative Mexicans to strongly support Democrats because Democrats vote for programs for poor people. Mexicans think that is government’s proper role. A lot think that America in particular owes them.
And that ‘us versus them’ thing is very real. It can be benign or malignant depending upon whether they’re your friends or if they don’t know you. Some of my friends routinely say “you people” or “white people” when they are talking to me. They are teasing and making fun of the different way that we do things, but it does reflect the strong ethnic consciousness among latinos, some who are as white as any anglo.
