There was an incident in the early 70’s where an EBS alert mistakenly went out from the Strategic Air Command instead of a test.
There is audio on the internet of an announcer at WOWO in Fort Wayne breaking into programming and crapping his pants for seven minutes until the correction message comes through.
I remember watching tv and hearing the “ this is not a test, this is an actual emergency. Please tune to your emergency broadcast station”. Almost crapped my pants..
