....In the poll, Peters leads Republican candidate Terri Lynn Land 53 percent to 39 percent among registered voters. That spread is roughly in line with the findings from other recent polls....

I thought I was alone in this one. I mean I don’t think it is a full on effort to NOT take the Senate, but if they stay under 50, they never have to take the blame for anything. They just point to the Dims and say “they did it”. Unfortunately, too many low info GOP voters will agree not recognizing it’s really the GOPe that is the problem.
In short, I think you are correct.
Not trying to be argumentative, but IMHO there’s no chance of an upheaval of any kind. That would require courage, fortitude, and conviction. But the people in this country are just too passive and apathetic to stand up for themselves. The only thing people want here is more idle diversions such as pop music, fast food, sporting events ad nauseam, and all things video. We are the United States of Entertainment. We’re Number One!
This is where I predict the most competitive Senate races will come down:
Senate......................................................Change
Alaska: Dan Sullivan (R) .......................(R+1)
Arkansas: Tom Cotton (R) .....................(R+2)
Colorado: ^Mark Udall (D)
—The fraud will be rampant in this one, otherwise Gardner would be giving a victory speech Nov 4.
Georgia: Michelle Nunn (D)...................(R+1)
Iowa: Joni Ernst (R) ...............................(R+2)
Kansas: Greg Orman (I) .........................(R+1)
Kentucky: ^Mitch McConnell (R)
Louisiana: ^Mary L. Landrieu (D)
—Rob Maness is preventing Cassidy from winning the Jungle Primary outright and Landrieu, with the help of massive lame-duck pork, will win the runoff.
Michigan: Gary Peters (D)
New Hampshire: ^Jeanne Shaheen (D)
North Carolina: ^Kay Hagan (D)
Virginia: ^Mark Warner (D)
South Dakota: Rounds (R) .....................(R+2)
—Barely.
West Virginia: Capito (R) ......................(R+3)
Montana: Daines (R)...............................(R+4)
As long as Obama is sitting in the Oval Office, I maintain the GOP wants to avoid majority status. They know the bright lights of media hate will be even more directly shined upon them since they'll own the responsibility at that level, yet the perks of membership in the House of Lords don't change. So, sorry... I disagree.
“Michigan is still wired by the unions at many levels.
They are in a purple rage over Rick Snyder and are pulling
out all the stops to win elections.”
Snyder is up 9 points in the last poll that came out.
Michigan is now a RTW state, and Republicans control virtually all of state government by veto proof margins.
Governor, state house/senate, SOS, AG, the courts, all Republican.
We banned affirmative action, queer marriage and queer unions. We have a strong voter ID law.
Michigan has more pro-2nd amendment laws than Texas!
Most of the US Congressmen from MI are Republican by a wide margin.
Land is a poor candidate and likely will lose, but it will be closer than many think.
OK so Democrats don’t need to show up! they got it in the bag
Are you speaking about the “win by losing” crowd?
We’re used to doing the heavy lifting in Michigan without much outside help and I’d say we’ve done pretty good so far.
We’ve put the GOP in control of both houses, the governor’s mansion, elected attorney general, elected Secretary of state, and a conservative supreme court. We got RTW which was another ‘not gonna happen” issue and some of the freest gun laws in the nation with every city being open carry stand your ground sites.
Its really pretty inconceivable that you can have the GOP up 8 to 10 points in every other race but a senate candidate down by double digits. Land has a GOPe pedigree but is a conservative and has won statewide office before. She’s also still raising more money that Peters even without national GOP help.
If peters were doing as well as the outsiders claim, he wouldn’t refuse to debate and would mop the floor with Land. The democrats are throwing everything they’ve got at this race. Tom Steyer has made Michigan a priority and the democrats have sent out all the big guns. Mooch, and both Clintons have been here but didn’t draw huge crowds and Obama will be here himself on the 1st.
Yeah, the ones that think Ted Cruz wouldn’t accomplish more with a majority, that Reid and Zero won’t smash thru Amnesty first thing like they did Zerocare, that the RATS will nominate non-partisan judges, those types.
Well, it is up to the people of Michigan, same as in every state. A pro-democrat/pro-Obama vote is a pro-Ebola vote. Drink deep of the cup, and drink even more when your internal organs turn liquid.
This is a wonderfully weird state at times. We have a Republican Governor who will probably win big, yet has no coat-tails for Terry or will he (?) that is the question. CrippleCreek may agree, she is not the type to ignite your voting passion, yet in the written word as to where she stands ( immigration specifically ) I can and other conservative Michiganer's can pull the lever for her.
It makes you wonder if Rove/Barbour/McConnell/K-Street don't want her because she is not in their pocket or is an unknown.
The sad part is, as a Conservative, I will have two loons that will pay lip service to my and our needs at best, Peters and Stabusnow which is unacceptable. At least having one R gives me and us a fighting chance, right now we have no and potentially will not have a sympathetic voice...
Exactly. GOPe lost this race, totally pulled the plug on Land and gave her the worst advisers.
how anyone could assume what voters in Rhode Island or Alaska think of a “local” candidate...in another state might have any bearing on that candidates election is beyond me.
Oh yes, those types. They bug me. Winning the senate will not be crossing the finish line, but as you said, it will allow the good guys to accomplish some things positive. I keep telling these people “You don’t win by losing” and I don’t think they get it.
Looking at the money flow, the insiders saw this race over a week or so ago. Public polling is only catching up now.
You want to know which races are competitive? Forget the polls, as they’re lagging indicators, and look where the money is gong.
Sounds about right.
The fact we lose Senate races to Democrats in Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, is really what spells out doom for Republicans ever wining the Senate again.
I mean, if you can’t win a national election in those states you’ll never get more than 40 senators going forward, ever. And that is best case scenario. I think Republicans are destined to become a 30 seat party in the Senate from here on out.
Oh I agree with that. Losing in KS, LA, and Georgia is outright pathetic.
I think it is likely she will lose, but it won’t be by a wide margin.
That is just my opinion based on the polls, her campaign ads, and her interviews with the media.
I hope she is swept in by the Republican wave, but I can’t see it right now.
