Washingtonians and visitors seeking to attend Veterans Day ceremonies or to pay their respects to the fallen at Arlington National Cemetery this year will need to allocate extra time in getting there.
That's because the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has cancelled all Blue line rail service on the federal holiday, and it's the only line that services the Arlington National Cemetery Metro train station.
The public transportation authority isn't shutting down for mandated safety repairs, which have plagued the agency since a 2009 fatal accident. Rather, service is being cancelled for "a major concert."
The concert, billed as "The Concert for Valor," is being held on the National Mall and is being sponsored by HBO, Chase, and Starbucks. Its being called "a first-of-its-kind concert to honor the courage and sacrifice of Americas veterans" and will be broadcast to HBO's 32 million U.S. subscribers. A press release states that "HBO will offer its affiliates the opportunity to open the signal, allowing nonsubscribers to view the special."

Whoa What???!
I guess it is rather fitting that these two clowns that have done nothing but bad mouth American’s their entire careers would hold a Concert to support the very people they have hated their entire lives, just to make a buck.
He was caught just a couple years ago cheating on his Wife Again with a roadies Wife.
I should also add that is how he met his current wife, cheating on his first wife with another mans wife,
He truly is scum
If I were a roadie a light might fall on his head in concert.
Wouldn’t this be the perfect opportunity for Trump, or a rich conservative, or conservative group to offer limo rides to those visiting Arlington? Find a point in town, or two, or ten,,offer to give free rides to/from the cemetery during certain hours.
What an incredible gesture and would be hard for the media to not cover it.
Eminem, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood, and the Zac Brown band are slated to perform. Celebrities like Tom Hanks, John Oliver, Meryl Streep, Jamie Foxx, and Steven Spielberg are also on the docket.
You talk about a crowd of people that truly Hate America, well you need not look any further, the funny part is how many people will shell out hard earned money to these people that have spent their entire careers Hating the Average American.
“Carrie Underwood”? Hanging around with bad company are just incredibly naive?
Good point about the hotels in Rockville. That’s usually what we do. We normally park at Shady Grove and ride in. Although, with the new Silver line open, some of the hotels out by Dulles give pretty good weekend deals, so I am tempted to stay out that way and park at Wiehle-Reston East and take the Silver line in. Any thoughts on that?
From what I have seen recently I do not believe she is being naive, She has just decided that a life of Moral Bankruptcy and America Hating is the way to success. It works for most in the entertainment industry. Which is why I haven’t been to a movie in over 25 years and don’t watch TV at all.
I’ll be darned. I guess you can look as American as apple pie and still be rotten inside.
It isn't a "hand in a pocket" pose.
I left before the Silver line became active, but that’s a pretty good plan, and the safety factor is fairly maxed out over there in that region. Here in the fall, the Dulles hotels aren’t pulling in the same rate of customers, so the discounts are out there. I think I got a $65 rate for a really nice place just two miles away from Dulles earlier this year. That’s a heck of a lot better than DC/Arlington hotel rates (nothing below $120 a night, and most wanting $250 for a nicer hotel).
Thanks for your help. I think that’s what we’ll do next trip. I have always seen good deals on hotels out by Dulles but have hesitated to stay there because of the lack of nearby Metro access. Now that the Silver line’s open, we’ll have to give it a try.
