Pope Francis makes general statements. The MSM then say the Pope endorses homosexuality.

How many times have we seen a repetition of this scenario? It becomes tiresome and damaging to faithful Catholics.

First, homosexuality is NOT a "new thing".

It has been documented as far back as Sodom and Gomorrah and it is even older than that.

God is not "afraid" of homosexuality. But it is clear that God, as well as any sincere person of faith, regards homosexuality as a sin and an abombination.

The concept being promoted is that Catholicism should stand for nothing, hold no moral positions and just accept whatever evil is in the world.

No one will say what evil surrounds us. They will just say we should accept evil.

If the Pope wasn’t referring to homosexuality, then what new things was he referring to? I know how the MSM spins it, and I know the Pope was likely referring to something else. But what was he referring to?

The God I serve, the God of the Bible, is, according to the Bible, Unchanging and Perfect.

Sorry Pope, you could not be more unscriptural if you tried.

Catholics (and I am not a Catholic) you have a heretic leading you.

How long can a religious doctrine endure when sin is amendable based on popular tolerance among the followere? How can one strive toward perfection if the definition of perfection can be dumbed down?

This Pope seems rather different to me. I'm not saying bad or anything like that, just...different.

I miss John Paul and I'm not even Catholic.... the goodness just seemed to flow from that fine man.

Do not underestimate what is going on here. The meme that "God is doing a new thing" (based on a phrase in the Old Testament somewhere) was used by the homosexual lobby to pervert the practices and teachings of the Episcopal Church in America. Likewise in the Lutheran Church to get them to abandon long held teachings.

While the Catholic Church is a tougher nut than these Protestant groups, the other side is that they had to do it the hard way because they didn't have a Pope leading them into the wilderness.

I said it before and I’ll say it again - This Pope is doing to the Catholic church what Obama has done and continues to do to the US.

Not one thing in the Holy Bible has changed since he became pope. Someone should make him aware of that.

Nothing is new to God. As a matter of fact, nothing has ever occurred to God. God knew about this perversion since before creation and God does not change.

I don’t know about the Pope. I pray for him every time this kind of thing comes out. Like renting out the Sistine Chapel to Porsche(got to read the story on that)

But here is what the article states, the reading of which, on FR, with Catholicism stories, is just not required. So I take comments very lightly

What the article states is, and which synchs with jimmy Akins version - link below- that the synod rejected with a strong pushback, not only the ideas of liberal minded clergy but renounced the press in erroneously reporting, right here in this story under the misleading headline

It can also be interpreted, though I’m not expecting it to be, here on this ‘delighted when the pope is liberal’ site, that the Pope said to the bishops, ‘these new ideas are rejected, not because they’re new, as God is not afraid of new things, but because they are not compatible with church teaching’

He also beatified Pope Paul VI at the end. Pope Paul VI published/ wrote Humanae Vitae - which was rejected by the clergy primarily by Jesuits and all cafeteria Catholics since 196(8?), when it came out, and which states that birth control is inherently evil, will lead to massive family breakup, wide addiction to pornography, anti femininity/motherhood -feminism, abortion, and acceptance of gender bending, homosexuality and use of pornography, along with immodesty in women

And the Pope declared him to be holy and likely in heaven as a saint at the end of this conference- a man whose teachings are rejected by liberals

Ok?

Jimmy Akins: http://m.ncregister.com/42967/b#.VEShQNm9Kc0

This reuters article we are commenting on:
The working session of the gathering ended on Saturday night with a final document that reversed a historic acceptance of gays by the Church made just a week earlier — a result some progressives see as a setback for Francis. “God is not afraid of new things. That is why he is continuously surprising us, opening our hearts and guiding us in unexpected ways,” the pope said.

At the Mass, he beatified Pope Paul VI, who died in 1978, bringing the pontiff best known for concluding the ground-breaking reforms of the Second Vatican Council and enshrining the Church’s ban on contraception a step closer to sainthood.

God is not afraid of new things. Is water wet?

God does not fear anything. However, sin separates men from their creator. This separation is not God’s plan because we were created to know love and serve him. God hates what sin does to his creation.

“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)

Pope Francis is creating a deception which will cause one to squander God’s perfect plan of salvation for them. All this to put the warm and fuzzies on the face of the Roman Catholic Church.

THERE ARE NO “NEW THINGS” TO GOD.

And there is nothing new under the sun. Just “new” to us because we may not have known about it before.

The more this pope talks the less i like him. He should take a vow of silence as he has a tendency to stick his ample foot in his stupid mouth!

I have to point out this is the first pope so many have used the excuse that they’ve mistranslated what he’s saying.

All these other popes speak foreign languages too. Polish, German, etc. And I do not recall ever, EVER, once seeing all these people say the media’s mistranslating what Pope John Paul or Benedict is “trying” to say. I heard media opining about what they said, but never that the fault lies with the media in confusing what the pope was saying.

This time it is vastly different. Everything controversial is because of mistranslation and misunderstanding, the pope is not saying what’s he’s saying because the media’s getting it wrong.

Ecclesiastes 1:9King James Version (KJV)

9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

and

Hebrews 13:8King James Version (KJV)

8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Wish some Bishop would tell the Pope these two scriptures!

I don’t have the skills or ability to write a novel, but for years, I’ve had the idea for one kicking around: What would it be like if, say, after a nuclear war, there was absolutely no one available to install in the Papacy of the caliber of JPII or Benedict, just some totally unqualified, uneducated mediocrity.
