As designed by the founders, we can only elect principled/honest/good people to rep us. When we ignore that end ‘play politics’ vote ‘to win’ as the primary goal instead of to elect principled/honest/good people, we get our current situation.
All we can do is vote smarter as the founders intended or start RW2. And people that lack the ability to vote right arent about to go revolutionary when their big screen and Sunday football hangs perilously in the balance.
That is a hopeful thought Norm, to elect men of principle, honest and good. Unfortunately, few are allowed into the club or step forward. We have seen how the Tea Party candidates have been roundly squashed by the machine. We have also seen the Tea Party turn to commercial fund raisers, a shame.
We have at least two generations who have been non-schooled in principle, honor and good. Any hope of their becoming turned to this will be by a significant emotional event, a harsh one.
To quote Laz of today, “Comfort is the enemy of courage.” It also appears to be the enemy of right, honor and principle. Aren’t those just other words for courage though?
