Santorum defenders have arguments for that, but when they learn that he also supported Specter in 2010, they grow silent, and when they learn about Santorum and Specter's pro abortion presidential activities in 1996, they are shocked.
I've even considered that you might be a paid operative.
Are you?
And to you, as well. Thank you.
My considered opinion is . . . Karl is an ass.
Ping.
The purpose of this love fest wouldn’t be to counter the news that came out last week that Rove buried the fact that WMDs were found, would it? Naaaahhhhhh!! The timing is just coincidence, surely....
I hope so too but around here I doubt it
It appeared to me the stuff about Rove and WMDs is just that ...stuff
It scame from The NY Times (one of the most trustworthy of sources as we all know ) and Rick Santorum (who might be wanting to build himself up before running for President again)
But lets take it at face value ...Rove’s advice about WMDs was to shut up and say nothing....GW Bush very rarely did anything for purely political motives and he certainly did not have to agree with Rove on this....
In short I think there is a lot more to the story
Of course any story that badmouths Rove has got to be the Gospel on FR
It seems a bit like you’ve thrown everything at the wall and hope something sticks. I personally wouldn’t go through that much trouble for Karl Rove, but you certainly have every right to.
just to be clear Im neither defending Rove nor maligning him ...I agree with the article and think he is good at what he does...and that the extreme hostility around FR for Rove is built on a lot of false premises.
Lee Atwater is a bit of a myth himself and there's no telling whether what he was supposed to have done in the 80s would work today. If you look at what he was saying at the end of his life it's also hard to say what he would have evolved into a quarter century later.
The speculation, though, is that if he'd lived Bush would have put up more of a fight in 1992 and maybe even won. Atwater wouldn't have done any good in 2008, and it's hard to say if his approach would have worked in 2012. I guess a little more aggressiveness couldn't have hurt the Republicans.
Williamson is right that you can't expect a campaign strategist like Rove to be purely a rallier and an exhorter like Limbaugh or Hannity. That's just not his strong suit.
I’m willing to give Rove credit for managing a couple of winning campaigns but that’s all he’s good at. He ought to stay out of sight and shut the bleep up about policy, conservatives, tea parties, wars, welfare, amnesty and everything else I can think of. I knew he was a one trick elephant when he told the story of how he met Bush 43 who showed up in town wearing his flight suit and cowboy boots-—Rove called that charisma. I knew then that he’s what I call one-dimensional and not to be relied on for anything except counting electoral votes.
Ronald Reagan won 2 landslides without Karl Rove and the Christian Rightbbecame a power player in the GOP. With Karl Rove managing the GOP, Republicans barely win, some lose to Dems and moving to the left has meant the Christian right stays home.
Yep Rove’s influence has done great harm to the GOP but done well financially for him!
” Yep Roves influence has done great harm to the GOP but done well financially for him!”
BUMP
Rove is an enemy of conservatism.
