Obama voters: The thrill is gone

As President Barack Obama heads into the final half of his final term, many of us Americans wonder: Whatever happened to the fresh promise of that cheerfully charismatic optimist who dominated the political stage back in 2008?

Some of those who voted for him now say they're sorry they did.

Why is the thrill gone? I can think of three big reasons:

1. Public impatience. After six years in office, any president has been seen and heard too many times to satisfy the public's relentless appetite for something fresh and new.

2. An anti-incumbent reflex in news media. The most powerful media bias, I often have argued, is our bias against any political narrative that sounds like old news.

3. Obama's own distaste for the politicking that is an inevitable and, in many ways, an essential part of presidential leadership.

Gary Younge, at Britain's liberal The Guardian, observed that Obama's campaign slogan, "Yes we can," seems to have become "At least he tried."

The next two years offer him a big opportunity to try harder.

Clarence Page is a left-wing shill. Notice that the reasons he gives for Obama's failures, only one includes Obama, but even it not really his fault. 1. The public's impatience; not Obama is incompetent. 2. The news media doesn't like incumbents; not incumbent Obama is a failure. 3. Obama dislikes politics; not Obama is full of bullish*t and not a leader. I watched a movie last night on TV, titled "Killing Them Softly". The movie wasn't about Obama but a scene at the very end was of a bar scene with the TV on in the background showing his 2008 acceptance speech. Obama's rhetoric was soaring and inspiring, full of platitudes. Contrast that with Obama today where, if you even can stomach to listen to his speeches anymore, they are, flat, dull, petty, whiney, petulant and sophomoric in their tenor. He sounds like a four year old who's in time-out for misbehaving. No more of that Hope and Change crap anymore. What started out as "we can do it" has been reduced to "me, myself and I." It's no longer about the country but about him. And Clarence, the next two years will be more of the same, even worse than the first six. The only way Obama will take these two years as an opportunity, will not to "try harder" at anything other than jamming more of his unlawful executive orders down the throats of the American public. The sooner he leaves, the better.

It's because people have finally come to realize that Obama is transforming the country farther than they wanted to go.

Furthermore, he is favoring foreigners over the people who voted for him.
