While it may feel good to 'stick it to the RNC and GOPe, and RINOs i general, it usually ads up to poking yourself in the eye to spite your face. It comes down to, "Do I want to put my hand on this red-glowing burner and leave my scorched palm behind, or would I rather put it down on the warm one and suffer discomfort?"
Most of those, who like you, that use these cutesy sayings to justify their positions (vs. actually articulating why your methodology is going to stem the leftward plunge) actually tell yourselves that Romney would have been every bit as bad as Obama - lunacy.
But that's just it, it isn't warm and some discomfort
vs scorched palm; to use your analogy it's a bright white vs a dazzling white. (ref)
In this case it's both that are terrible and will damage you, there is no "least bad" because the effects are exactly the same. — Remember NY-23, remember Mississippi? Remember the 2012 RNC's rigged voice-vote? Remember the retroactive rule-changes in the primaries to give delegates to Romney? — All of these clearly show that the GOP do not want any principles or ideologies which will impede their elitist vision. (And that vision is the same as the Democrat one.)
These show that the GOP consider the Democrats to be more in-step with them than their base.

And how, just how, is voting for people who clearly would rather have the other guy, the one that's worse
, than someone who more accurately represents the principles of the base going to move the party towards the principles the base values? That is the question that the GOPe cheerleaders cannot, and will not, answer.
