The case for voting Republicans, even those you think are Rinos
10/18/2014 | chrisnj

Posted on 10/18/2014 4:45:34 AM PDT by chrisnj

Many conservative voters are disillusioned at the Republicans for not standing up for their principles, for compromising with the Democrats, for having no spines etc. etc. They vow not to vote for the Republicans, or outright vote for the Democrats, to send them a message, to teach them a lesson. I think this kind of message/lesson serves no purpose but to cut off your own supply of oxygen.

Almost all the Republicans rejected obumbocrap (obamacare) but Harry Reid and his crooked Dems jammed it through deviously. The House Republicans have passed many legislations to repeal obumbocrap but Reid et al killed them all. The House Republicans have passed many good legislations but Reid and his crooks buried them all. The media blasted the Republicans on all their good constitutional/conservative acts, but remained silent on the Democrats' constant acts to destroy the constitution. This is a known fact and all of us always complain about it. Yet we are not showing any understanding of the difficult situations facing the House Republicans. While the Dem voters are behind their Dems 100%, we are demanding perfection while offering no help. We blame the Republicans for this and that but we are not working hard to create an opportunity or situation where they can stand on their principles and serve us faithfully. Why don't we vote them into majority in both House and Senate, so they have more control and feel less pressured to compromise, but more encouraged to listen to us to enact constitutional legislations for the good of the country. This is not excuses for the Republicans' non-performance. It is simply a fact that a good person can only do so much under difficult situations! We should understand that it is human nature to be rather weak, especially when under pressure. But given the favorable situations we are more likely to stand up taller for our principles. Remember when the Republicans were the majority in both Houses - even with a Democrat president Clinton, Congress was able to serve the people well! So if we are able to vote the Republicans into the majority, we just might be able to influence them into reversing the course to get our country back on the right track. Considering that many people have awaken and patriots are much more enthusiatically engaged in shaping government policies, we can realistically hope to get better leaders who will listen to the people again. All we need to do is unite and vote the crooks out but vote the acceptable albeit imperfect Republican candidates in, then work hard to influence them...

Certainly, with rampant voter fraud, ignorant and low-information voters, AND, the conservatives who vow to stay home or vote for the Dems, there is no hope that the Republicans will be in control of both Houses. It was said that those conservatives who wouldn't vote for the Republicans are part of the reasons why the Dems won the elections. So these conservatives are in effect cutting off the supply of oxygen to their own hopes (and our hopes)!

History suggests that the Republicans are more constitution-abiding leaders. We need to create the opportunities for them to abide to the constituion - by voting them into majority and then pressuring them into serving the people the way they should.

FURP!! FUMR!! FUJB!! FUCC!!
Any questions?

No questions from me, but I believe I can summarize the position of those who are saying we must vote for the Republican candidate no matter how liberal, socialist, or statist they may be:

Master Republican guide us. Master Republican teach us. Master Republican protect us. In your light we thrive. In your mercy we are sheltered. In your wisdom we are humbled. We live only to serve. Our lives are yours.
and/or
Psalms, Chapter 23 (HERS):
1 The Party is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 They maketh me to lie down in green cards: and leadeth me beside the turbulent waters.
3 They restoreth my soul: they leadeth me in the paths of The Party for their pride's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of statism, I will fear no evil: for they art with me; their lesser of two evils, they comfort me.
5 They preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies, terrorists & invaders: they anointest my head with urine; my poisoned cup surely runneth over.
6 Surely humiliation and spite shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Republican Party for ever.

Wrong

I think F Scott Fitzgerald said it best when he said this

“The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.”

I believe people should fight like hell to get the best (most conservative) candidate in office.

Once the electorate has spoken people need to bury the hatchet and vote for whoever won in the primaries.
In other words vote for the person who is still standing that is the most conservative and has the best chance of winning.

Or at least the candidate who is the least insane and has the best chance of winning.

And sometimes that means voting for those you would not normally vote for.

The reason for this is a combination of idealism and pragmatism.

I can be both idealistic and pragmatic and still function

Can you?

If not, welcome to the wonderful world of Obama’s America.

blas·phe·my
ˈblasfəmē/
noun: blasphemy; plural noun: blasphemies
the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk.
Unless the Republican party is sacred, which I don't believe it is, I don't think you can accurately say that this is blasphemy.

Personally, I thought I was rather mocking the holier than thou tone they're taking against purists who refuse to join in.
I can't think of anything that illustrates that quite as well, can you?

And once the republicans took possession of the House of Representatives and had the power of funding under the Constitution did they zero out funding for Obama Care or did they fund it? The Chamber of Commerce likes Obama Care because it off loads health coverage from their membership mostly international corporations to the tax payer. Boehner & Cantor had no problem squashing any repeal efforts and funding it.
Do you think John Boehner is going to fight for smaller government? A border fence? Scale back HB-1 visas until Americans are back to work in the tech industry? Will he reign in the runaway EPA? How about the Labor Relations Board? Has he even had an effective strategy to oppose Obama? What victory for conservatives can you name that he’s engineered? Then tell me what McConnell’s done.
John McCain has made a career out of back stabbing conservatives, pushed amnesty for illegals, and sold out our MIA’s in Vietnam. What has the republican party done to punish him? Oh yeah, pushed him front and center to be the nominee for 2008! We also got the democrat in republican’s clothing from Massachusetts in 2012 as the “electable candidate”. Remember? He pushed Romney Care in his state so Obama Care as an issue was taken off the table for the 2012 election. You know the one issue that would be a winner against the democrats.
What do Rex Ryan and the republican leadership have in common? They both continually lose but they still get to call the plays even though their records suck!

What you posted is profane and is offensive. More worthy of a leftist then a so called conservative.

Once the electorate has spoken people need to bury the hatchet and vote for whoever won in the primaries.
In other words vote for the person who is still standing that is the most conservative and has the best chance of winning.

So go with the flow and popular is better?

Or at least the candidate who is the least insane and has the best chance of winning.
And sometimes that means voting for those you would not normally vote for.
The reason for this is a combination of idealism and pragmatism.
I can be both idealistic and pragmatic and still function.

There's a difference between being both idealistic and pragmatic and thinking that pulling for those who have both spoken and acted against your positions will advance your positions. — That is, essentially, what the you have to vote Republican! the other side's worse! crowd is saying.

Just look at their stance on amnesty — the GOP is practically drooling, chomping at the bit to pass it… how is voting for them going to advance my ideals that we ought not? (And the same can be said for almost any or the Republican planks; Debt? They've helped incur more. Accountability? They've been rather passive [or wink-and-nod] as things like the NSA's domestic espionage, or the IRS's targeting, or the Fast & Furious scandal came to light.)

How is it at all rational to give these more power?

Can you?

Can I be both idealistic and pragmatic? Yes.
Can I sit idly by and allow this ridiculous Vote Moloch Or Satan Wins! argument to be taken seriously? No way.

Your summarization is pretty dead wrong.

Because I don;t need want or desire some Master Republican. And I dang sure do not want to keep Dumblecrat Overlords.

Like it or not I made the judgement on voting day that Mitt Romney would have been better than Barack Obama. I doubt that you or anyone will ever convince me otherwise. Was that a distinction between Moloch and Satan ?
I think not. But then the Devil is in the details.

Like Thad Cochran, who called people who think like us racists and illegally used Democrat double-voters to defeat a far better conservative candidate?

What you posted is profane and is offensive.

Offensive, yes — I mean for it to offend those who are equating voting Republican with righteousness.
(If not explicitly voiced then with their attitudes.)

As to profane, I think not. —
I don't claim it to be inspired, I don't claim it to be on par with the Bible, and I don't claim it even to be good.
(All I claim is that it illustrates the near-religious fervor the you have to vote Republican people are showing.)

More worthy of a leftist then a so called conservative.

And how is this mentality that everyone who has a limit to what they can accept, the so-called "purist", at all conservative?
Or are you going to tell me that in order to be conservative everyone must think the same thoughts? Because that sounds like a liberal control tactic to me.

:D - Good pun.

Like it or not I made the judgement on voting day that Mitt Romney would have been better than Barack Obama.

And that's your own decision -- I don't have to like it, or agree with it, but I have to respect it.
To do otherwise is to insult your ability to make choice.

That is, I think the most offensive thing about the by staying home or voting third-party you voted for Obama argument that you see sometimes — it contains the implicit assertion that because you didn't follow the crowd (in the 3rd party case) that your choice itself is non-valid.

I am not sure that Boehner with a REPUBLICAN Senate will not at least try.

I do not like Boehner and the times the repubbies caved. And having a Senate isn;t going to pass much either because they will not have a veto proof majority. BUT it is preferable to having Harry Reid just sweep the house passed bills into the trash.

I would love to see everything you listed pass.

But it isn’t going to happen. NO Republican has a plan to reduce government as dramaticly as we would like. So we just sit out until someone comes along to suit us?

I do not want to see Harry Reid’s funeral director face any more. Even if there is complete gridlock, we will have accomplished something.

Had I lived in Mississippi and voted I would have voted for Mc Daniel because he clearly had a chance at winning ....Now with things the way they are I would have a very very hard time voting for Cochran.
However I think if Republicans dont win the Senate we are doomed to more Obama BS and Cochran is now is the nominee.(i would love to see a court battle over that primary).

So Im real glad I don’t live in Mississippi

I’ll even go first. I don’t live in Mississippi either, but if I did, I’d leave that part of my ballot blank. Cochran showed he doesn’t want conservative votes, and since he appears to have made no attempt to earn them since then, blank would be the way to go since no good conservative should vote for a Democrat in my view.

Your turn.

Nobody’s saying that. No one. Period. Put up or STFU.

Oh, really?

EternalViligance: Do you have any principle that is non-negotiable?
C. Edmund Wright: you’re not adult enough for reality.
EternalViligance: So, let me ask again: Do you have any principle that is non-negotiable?
C. Edmund Wright: Yes, one of them being that I will vote against whoever violates my principles the MOST - even if that is an unsatisfactory choice.
For your tiny brains info, that’s making an adult choice, not compromising on ones principles. Your self righteousness is nauseating and ends up screwing YOU more than anyone else. No, I don’t expect you to understand what I just said.

EternalVigilance: So, in other words, you really don't have any principles that are non-negotiable. What you apparently can't see is that once you've bought into the "lesser of two evils," utilitarian, hegelian deception, the only direction you're going is down, down, down. And that the only possible way off that inevitable descent is to stop compromising.

Looks to me like you are.

Finally get home, finish my chores, pop a beer and mix it 50/50 with V 8, eat dinner, go to the garage, flip the puter on, settle down for a little intelligence gathering, and I get this?

Dude, you got issues.

Life does not revolve around what you think, but the same could be said for many here.

This site was a gathering place to compare notes and plan for strategy on how to beat the libs at their game. To recover the once free republic.

It appears more and more it is a place to fuck your friends, because they don't see eye to eye.

Good luck in you endeavors, you might possibly need it.
