I have yet to find “separation of church and state” in any copy of the Constitution that I have examined.

IIRC, it was in some of the 'papers' authored by one of the founding fathers.

More important than that is that it doesn't say separation of church and state, It speaks of the "Separation of the POWERS of CHURCH, and the POWERS of STATE".
