IT'S GOING VIRAL.
Ebola? No . . . at least not here in the United States, where the deadly virus has not spread among the general population. Although Ebola has been - and remains - a major, lethal public-health crisis in West Africa, cases in the U.S. have been limited to the death of a man who contracted the illness in Liberia before returning to Dallas, and now the infection of two hospital workers who treated him.
What is going viral, however, is fear itself - what Franklin Roosevelt might have called "nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror." Panic over a potential - yet still unrealized, and highly unlikely - pandemic helped cause a brief, death-defying drop in the Dow Jones industrial average yesterday and forced President Obama to cancel a campaign trip to meet with his Cabinet over what has become a political crisis, if not yet a public-health crisis.
"I want people to understand that the dangers of you contracting Ebola, the dangers of a serious outbreak in this country, are extraordinary low, but we are taking this very seriously at the highest levels of government," said Obama, walking a political high-wire. The president's mission - yesterday, and in the days to come - will be to convince wary Americans that the government is on top of Ebola, while squelching further panic; he stressed yesterday that he's shaken hands with and hugged doctors and nurses who treated patients with the virus.
But what do you need to know? Here's a Daily News primer:
Q: How crazy is the Ebola panic getting?

A nation without borders IS NOT A NATION
That’s exactly how I’m looking at it, too. My daughter (nearly 20) says that’s all the kids her age are talking about. They ALL want to know why travel hasn’t been shut down and are really questioning the government’s response. Which, hopefully, will cause them to question other things the government is up to.
Whatever wakes them up to the fact the government isn’t their Daddy and can’t protect them and meet their every need is fine by me.
WE’RE PANICKING! The evidence is everywhere! Every newscast starts with the latest Ebola news. Every half hour on the news channels, we get a breathless update.
Meanwhile, we’re up to how many infected with the deadly diseases coming from our transparent border?
AHHH! EBOLA! Oh, and in other news, two schools were shut down due to infections of students who are in critical condition.
Are you kidding? There have been multiple threads & responses over the past couple weeks here on FR from people 100% convinced the U.S. will be wiped out, chastising those who refuse to panic, saying elections will be cancelled in November & much more.
“Thats exactly how Im looking at it, too. My daughter (nearly 20) says thats all the kids her age are talking about. “

That’s good to hear. I have a grandaughter that age but she’s away so our conversations are fairly brief and the subject of Ebola hasn’t come up-——yet.
.
Take no comfort in anything they say because they are killing us in economics, justice, morality and foreign policy.
LOL! You ever notice the most leftist a-holes in Hollywood are always the ones who really never had to work for a career due to either their relatives or luck and the ones who are conservative had to bust their ass to make it? Leo DiCrapio - lucked out when he was a kid with a million buck movie career, Gwyneth - gets a career through her parents, same with George Clooney, Jane Fonda and Sean Penn- relatives got them gigs. Clint Eastwood, Bruce Willis, James Woods, all had to start from the ground up.
I remember reading a while back about NASA, or maybe another government agency preparing for a possible catastrophic asteroid hit, even though the odds were less than a million to one. The reason given was that the consequences were dire. It’s the same thing with Ebola. We should take even a minor threat seriously because the consequences are so dire.
I concur. At the present time articles about the panicking citizens are utter nonsense.
I’m guessing if it’s THE topic of conversation amongst a bunch of kids in the middle of corn country, it’s even moreso THE topic everywhere else, too.
She says Facebook is eyeball deep with kids discussing it and they’re all sending each other links to news about it. I *helpfully* added Drudge to their list. Maybe they’ll stumble onto other news while they’re over there. :-D
If you get to talk to your granddaughter about it, let me know!
Unfortunately the young people will believe the lsm propaganda, i.e. rinos yanking funding etc.
It is all the result of racial diversity and PC.
Is that Dr. Frieden on the left?
Surprisingly, that’s not what she’s seeing. She said her news feed always ran pretty much 50/50 in regards to He Whose Name I Can’t Stand To Mention. Now, only one person is still under the Kool-aid influence and she finally blocked him. I know the kid and he’s been raised by completely far-left Code Pink kind of parents so that didn’t surprise me.
She says everyone else thinks our dear leader is an idiot. And now that they’re listening she has a great opportunity to really inform them.
Philly.com and Herman Cain com to rescue Obola
