Preparedness: Earlier this week, Sen. John McCain called for an Ebola czar, not knowing one already effectively exists. Why should he, since Nicole Lurie, M.D., M.S.P.H., has been completely M.I.A.
You have to wonder sometimes if anyone in a leadership position in the Obama administration bothers to show up to work these days.
Case in point is Dr. Nicole Lurie, who arguably should be front and center in planning for and responding to the Ebola outbreak. After all, it's right there in her job title.

Anybody who has worked on this disease knows it is to be quarantined tightly. Why would you want to be an Ebola expert and have your name on this mess. Your name would be vilified throughout history.

Remember when leaders and people were competent and intelligent enough to make good decisions without czars? McCain thinks any crisis can be met by making big government larger and more authoritarian. Or maybe McCain doesn’t think. We are looking for a few good people who show up for work, and know their jobs. Obama needs to hug more Ebola exposed people, and take Biden with him. It’s a good start.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
