Well, Freepers. We have the winners.
The Giants have little association with the idiots that define San Francisco politics these days. Owner paid and built stadium because the city, unlike nearly all in the US, refused to pay for any part of it. AT&T Park (I much preferred the original PacBell name) is much like the Vatican residing in Italy.
Um, no. That’s not what I’m saying at all.
Naming a ball field after a telecommunications corp is about as befitting as naming a battleship after........never-mind.
great series. I remember watching at work and the entire place can to a standstill during games 3-5.
Busch, Coors, Miller Chase, Citi, Citizens Bank, Comerica, Globe Life, PNC Financial, Progressive, Safeco, U.S. Cellular Minute Maid, Petco, Target, Tropicana
Not really a “beef”. More like a bone.
I can understand beer. Heck, I can understand naming a ball field Ballpark Franks or Weiner, but most of those names you listed should be on the list of worst in the history of the game.
I agree about the corporate names. But I liked PacBell because of the bell they rung after winning games. AT&T? Yuck!
Bobby Thompson cheated.
Well, why not name it LouLouBell or Ma Bell. Or what about Jingle Bell, but PacBell should’ve been gonged.
We Royals are just limited in out understanding. The five game series we do in three and the seven game series we do in four. We just don’t have a proper understanding of the game.
I've followed the last 47 years of their impossible escapades and would be happy with additions. It may not take a miracle, but it would take be credit to their legend to come back from 3-1. The middle of the order bats need to wake up. They need a good rant by AJ in the clubhouse; he saved them when Yadi went down before and needs to remind them how to win without Yadi again. If we're to lose to SF I'd like to go out on better notes than the last three losses. Beating the Royals this month looks tough, even if the umps return the win they stole in the last I-70 series. With a healthy Yadi and a hot team it would be entertaining. Without... well, I'd rather not see the Cards embarrassed in another WS. Our last two Boston WS embarrassed the whole NL.
“You are out of your mind to think anyone will beat SF in a playoff series.”
Anaheim Angels. 2002.
The Giants aren’t in yet and stranger things have happened. Congratulations to the Royals!
If Nelson Cruz could have caught a fly ball, the Rangers would have been world champs.
Correcto mundo, CatOwner. If you are going to be a fan of
college or pro major sports teams you have to learn to
compartmentalize things these days. The vast majority
of cities and universities are run by yo-yos who have
nothing in common with sane people. Personally, as
a native NorCalifornian I refuse to allow a bunch
of dopey libtards to dictate my team preference.
My choice.
Nice for my Kansas City Royals. Been a long road over the last ten to twenty years. 2004 to 2007 was especially brutal.
“Anaheim Angels, 2002.”
The operative word here is “will” (beat), not “did” (beat).
Having stated that I would point out that the Giants were
down 3 games to 1 against the Cards in 2012. The Giants
pulled it off then and the Cards could do it back to them now.
Plus the Royals are on a fantastic roll. (I am a
Giants fan, too. )
Ditto.
Because the Chiefs sure don't look like they will.
