In the case of Amber Vinson, the Dallas nurse who flew commercially as she was becoming ill with Ebola, one health official said "somebody dropped the ball."
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that Vinson called the agency several times before flying, saying that she had a fever with a temperature of 99.5 degrees. But because her fever wasn't 100.4 degrees or higher, she didn't officially fall into the group of "high risk" and was allowed to fly.
Officials in the U.S. have been trying to calm fears over the Ebola crisis, but time and again events have overtaken their assurances.

She couldn’t take responsibility for her own behavior? This is so typical of libs, who depend on the gubmint to tell them whether to stand up or sit down to pee.
And yes, the CDC was remiss. Who answered the phone?
That's what many of the nurses have been saying.
I agree. She contacted who she thought were the experts and trusted the answer she received. We tend to forget we live in the age of employer attitude that employees are equal and can be taught pretty much any task to perform so long as there's a rule book to follow. I suspect that's what occurred here. A clerk looked something up on a computer, not realizing the temperature was on its way up. My normal temperature is usually lower than 98. If it gets up to the so-called normal 98.6, I usually have some kind of infection going on.

No, that is not my understanding. Reston is definitely different, but I see that apparently many other Ebola strains have infected and killed lots of apes, in Africa, and seems to be caught up in the infection of humans.
Never mind the infection route through eating “infected” animals - although they may just be carriers, as opposed to victims, in a sense.
if she told the airline her situation, abd had a doctors note (not cdc) im sure they would have refunded her money or changed her flight until it was proven she was not contagious..look what it has cost them now...
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Boehner and McConnell are the worst "representives" ever. They have NO speaking ability, and ZERO charisma. They meet EVERY stereotype of "Republican" in the MSM.
The only "message" I "get" from them, when I can even understand what they are saying, through all their mumbling, is that they could give a chit less about this country, or anything else, outside of keeping their six figure incomes, and doing as little as possible to earn them.
They are awful spokespeople. Even if they wanted , (and I doubt that they do), to make the points you suggest in your post, they would be ineffective.
“On a previous post I called her stupid. I have to take that back and substitute too trusting now that I know she called the idiots at CDC because she was concerned. Apparently they are so bureaucratic that they looked at numbers rather than focusing on the fact that she was in contact with Duncan.”
Thanks for your honesty and decency. This young woman tried to follow the CDC’s guidelines and called several times. She probably got an equal opportunity hire and was told “No Problem”!
Hey Obama, be a MAN - Implement a travel BAN!!
