We’re in a completely impossible position, largely because we entertained fantasies and delusions. It was a delusion that we would be able to “install” or “sell” democracy to Iraq. With zero history of a civil society and with a solid history to the beginning of time of a pre-medieval culture, there was that missing element. It surprised me at the time that there was no understanding of the idea that *any* political system ex-Islam is a de facto rejection of Islam. We were asking people to reject their religion. That never works.

However, in Afghanistan, I thought from the beginning that we should have developed small, very mobile hunter-killer units. And I believe that is the way to fight ISIS now; our guys should not so much engage in firefights but should laser designate targets that should be viciously wiped out with extreme prejudice from the air.

I agree with you as to the Kurds. The Kurdish story will be the functional equivalent of Rwanda when the history of this era is written. However, there is no arming the Kurds with Turkey involved. Turkey *is* one of ISIS’ prime sponsors as far as I am concerned. Their actions to fight anyone are strictly in their own interests, they will do zero when it comes to defending the Kurds, that is complete fantasy. They are happy to let the Kurds die. The poor Kurds are like rabbits out in the wild. Virtually every other animal considers them prey.

No, we should have never gotten rid of Saddam. Look what these muslim countries turn into without dictators.

Some would say a brutal tyrant is a symptom of islam. I say a brutal tyrant keeps islam in check, even a cure if you will.

The reason it didn't work was because people like Hillary and Kerry etc - even most of our guys - see democracy in stupid terms like 'voting'. Every tototalitarn hellhole has voting. Saddam So-Insane had voting... and over 98% turnout. What people want in this country - and in those countries is a Bill of Rights that protects them FROM their thuggy governments. THAT we could have sold to them. But our Blowards like Kerry, Obama, Hillary are no different than the thugs in the ME - power freak narcissists... what's different is we stop their grandiosity with the Constitution.

A billion purple fingers showing a vote isn't worth two cents if you can't stop midnight knocks and people being murdered by the State. They know that over there... we know it over here.

It could have succeeded. ... People from all over the world try to escape to our country - BECAUSE THEIR RIGHTS ARE PROTECTED HERE... not because they 'get the right' to vote for Obama or Romney...or some other blowhard.

....
What, yes it does work. How do you think islum spread, they made the people change their religion. Belief Systems can be changed and eliminated as the Nazis and Tojos in WW2.

It is a waste of time to try and help Islamic Countries when they mandate in their Constitution “ No Law Shall Contradict Islam”....as is the case with Iraq.
