“Other limited government types point to the Progressive utopian foolishness seen in opposing political factions, both sides of which seem to agree humanity could somehow escape calamity if only we had a properly functioning government. People who dont want an all-powerful government shouldnt blame it for not having competence when crisis strikes.”
What?! One does not follow the other...or...he’s mixing two different concepts to sound like one thing...or both at the same time.
NOBODY suggests that humanity could somehow escape ANY KIND of calamity with a functioning government. The DO suggest that it could eliminate a lot of waste, fraud and abuse...leaving resources for things like...ummm...Ebola.
And people who dont want an all-powerful government CAN AND SHOULD blame it for not having competence when crisis strikes IF THE GOVERNMENT WAS MADE ALL POWERFUL DESPITE THEIR OBJECTIONS!
Geezzz....
Not being all powerful does not excuse gross incompetence.
Interesting recurring Leftist rhetoric: when called on incompetence, objects against imputed demands for total perfection - which was, of course, NOT what was called out.
No, Leftists, it does NOT take an all-powerful government to have competence when crisis strikes. With years of planning and billions of dollars to prepare for the long-predicted outbreak of worst-case diseases like Ebola, we DO expect basic competence unto immediately isolating the exposed and decontaminating the areas involved, NOT just telling close live-in family members “don’t go out” and leaving contaminated items in place for mundane cleanup (say, with a power sprayer ... how IS that sandaled woman doing? anyone watching her symptoms?). If that can’t be done, then funding should be cut off as it’s sure not going anywhere.
