“It’s unreasonable to suspect a child will kill a grandparent unless the DA can clearly establish that there was a prior threat.”

I agree, but this woman wasn’t his grandparent. He wasn’t related to this woman, and he was only there because his grandfather was the caretaker of this woman. If the grandfather was employed to take care of this woman he had a responsibility to ‘take care of her’.

Whether or not it was reasonable for him to leave this child alone with her is dependent upon other things - like whether or not this child had a history of aggression or mental health issues. From a different post: “If a 10 year old kills someone with a cane and his fists, because she yelled at him, it is likely that his aggressive behavior has shown up before.”

Thanks — I had incorrectly assumed that she was the wife of the grandfather, thinking the “caretaker” designation referred to a husband who was still well enough.
