State Police have arrested a 10-year-old boy and charged him as an adult in the beating death of a 90-year-old woman in Wayne County, Pennsylvania.
Authorities say the boy was visiting his grandfather, the woman's caretaker, on Saturday when the woman shouted at the child for entering her room. They say he punched her in the throat numerous times.

“OK, Im probably going to take some heat on this one,”
More heat. You should have read the article.
Personally, I’m willing to entirely dispose of the entire category of “juvenile crime” as a failed experiment. The crime is the same no matter what the criminal’s age.
Yes,this kid can't get off "scot free".Yes,this kid may be a psychopath in the making...but we can't be sure of that.I'm not sure what should happen to this kid but I *am* sure that a criminal conviction *shouldn't* happen to him.
If he was 18...fry him.If he was 16...a *long* time in prison. But he's ***ten***!!!! He's far too young to declare to be worthless, irredeemable, etc.
I agree, but there still are lots of blanks to fill in, IMHO. This is a big stretch, but how do we know the grandfather-caretaker isn't responsible for her death, and that they blamed the child thinking that nothing would happen to the child because he was only 10? How do we know that the reason the child is being charged as an adult isn't because the prosecutors office suspects the grandfather, and wants to put pressure on him and the mother to come clean?
A big reach, yes, but just makes the point that there are still lots of things about this case that remain unclear.
“Normally I wouldnt worry about a 10 yr old.”
Normally, you’d be bigger and stronger. When you’re a bedridden elderly person that’s no longer true and a 10 year old becomes a potential menace. One would think this isn’t the first time this 10 year old has demonstrated he’s dangerous. That’s probably why he’s being charged as an adult, a long history of disturbing behavior. He’s probably been so charged because they can’t keep him away from other children if he’s charged as a child, meaning he’s considered a potential serial killer by the authorities. Like all “news” articles, this one seems to be written by somebody who could not write a coherent report with all the details on a fishing expedition or a camping trip, let alone a murder.
If a 10 year old kills someone with a cane and his fists, because she yelled at him, it is likely that his aggressive behavior has shown up before. This kid needs to be locked up.
I’m always curious to hear about the family structure when I hear about such cases.

Another one of those made up ghetto names.
There are better stories surfacing from local sources.
Young perp quoted as telling police he wasn't trying to kill the older women, he was only trying to hurt her.

The boy told his mother that "he got mad, lost his temper and grabbed a cane and put it around Novak's throat," police said. Advised of his rights and interviewed by a trooper, he said he "pulled Novak down on the bed and held the cane on her throat and then punched her numerous times," authorities said.
State police said the boy told them that he went to his grandfather and told him that the woman was "bleeding from her mouth" but denied he had harmed her, but later told him that he had punched the woman and put a cane around her neck.
Yikes.
Ahhh! Patty McCormick - the original bad seed!
Cane control now!
The grandparents’ name is Novak, so your theory is doubtful.
"Heaven doesn't want them; and Hell threw them out."
Going to be an adopted Kennedy some day.
” ...he had punched the woman and put a cane around her neck.”
*shudder*
Good lord -- I visited my frail bedridden grandparent while the other one was in the kitchen, and visited several relatives in their late 90s in nursing homes without any supervision. It's unreasonable to suspect a child will kill a grandparent unless the DA can clearly establish that there was a prior threat.
