-——nothing says devout Christian like a nose ring-——
A little harsh....
Lots of very devout young people do get caught up in their generations fashion statements....
My nephew, a serious christian got a tattoo on his arm as a statement of his faith....when he became saved...
It is a arrow with a 180 degree turn.... He uses it as a evangelical tool to reach his generation...very effectively I might add...
I guess he could also use some graven images and golden calfs to spread the message too
Doesn’t a tattoo send a certain message about oneself? Aren’t our bodies our temples? Why deface a temple?
“-nothing says devout Christian like a nose ring-

I don’t think so.
“Lots of very devout young people do get caught up in their generations fashion statements....”
Not really an excuse or good reason.
“My nephew, a serious christian got a tattoo on his arm as a statement of his faith....when he became saved...”
Makes no sense. Kind of like going out and committing sodomy to celebrate getting saved.
Some people are mixed up and this writer in Slate seems to be one.
