I know but He is the Lord and cannot be tempted. When people say “well Jesus did it” to me that doesn’t mean that we can, and get away with it unscathed. Now, I know we can be friends with someone who’s gay, as long as we know we aren’t weak to that particular situation, but I think we also have the obligation, as it were, to spread the gospel to them. And we all know, we won’t have them for a friend very long after that...

Not necessarily. There are gays who rationalize their sins and re-interpret the Bible to make the gay lifestyle OK.
But there are also many who STRUGGLE with their sins and who DO acknowledge their weaknesses.
We have to approach them on a case by case basis.
Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Matthew states Jesus was tempted by satan 3 times in wilderness.
We are the light in the darkness in the world, we should be spending lots of time with the lost (sinners) just like Jesus. We influence them not be influenced by them.
