Anyone remember back in 1968 when Bobby Kennedy was murdered? That same week, in So Cal, a clandestine unlicensed sub-machine gun manufacturing company was raided by the Feds.
Documents and other info pointed to a secret contract from the LBJ White House showed those guns were made for shipment to South or Central America.
The story died quickly but I believe the NRA had an article on it back then.
Who knows what other secrets are going on.

My bet is this office of retired military officers wanted the suppressors for themselves. They seem like a strange bunch living in their own fantasy world.
