That 13 hours of music by Richard Rogers is a signal work of 20th Century American Culture - in today's PC environment, you have to hunt it out.

To his credit, Robert Shafer, the Music Director of the Oratorio Society of Washington featured a suite from "Victory At Sea" in one of our concerts.

This generation - they've been systematically shielded from from any examples of American exceptionalism.

A great wrong that must be redressed!

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Indeed.

To their credit, The “American Heroes Channel” has dredged up the “World At War” Series, which was also quite good. However, “Victory At Sea”was the ground-breaker for WW2 Documentaries, and its style has been copied ever since.

perhaps the word “VICTORY” is what keeps it off the air. You know...it is such a bellicose, jingoistic, and pugnatious kind of word..and it might hurt somebody’s feewings.
