When you can tell me how many nurses contract HIV from touching their faces with a gloved hand.
And how many contract HIV from simply touching an IV bag in the patients room with an ungloved hand.
Ditto Hep C.
And neither Hep nor Herpes have a 90% fatality rate.
It was possible to have better gear.
An NGO has been doing so in the bush in the third world for 20 years with ebola outbreaks. Prior to this one they had NEVER lost one of their people. Their protocols were that stringent.
Unless the hospitals haven’t been paying attention to the CDC, they had plenty of warning about ebola cases. Unless you think the MD’s and administrators don’t watch the news? Or hear of the cases in Lagos ex Liberia from the Patrick Sawyer infection?
And we’re not talking ER workes who were ‘on the spot’ exposed.
We’re talking a caregiver who KNEW her patient was ebola positive and STILL had to treat him with obviously insufficient gear and decon.
For heavens sake, their HAIR was left uncovered. Any droplets that got into her hair were infectious. And when she brushed her hair after taking off her PPE, she would have obviously been at risk.
We can surely do better than the third world. If not, we’d better stop pointing the finger at the catastrophe there and saying ‘of course they have ebola there, they’re primitive savages without hygiene’. Because unless we get serious about protecting OUR healthcare workers at LEAST as well as MSF, we won’t HAVE any healthcare workers.
I predict the LAWYERS will clear up this mess REALLY QUICKLY in fact. Because sick and dead healthcare workers families will acquire ambulance chasers like dogs have fleas.
She didn’t necessarily make a mistake. It could have been somebody else who wasn’t as careful as they should have been. It could also be the the protocol is simply not enough.
Now you’re erecting strawmen.
The facts are the facts. And the facts are that nurses get sick from patients. Doesn’t matter how many strawmen you erect that fact remains. Many of those diseases are fatal. And yes with some diseases they could get them from sweat, it’s a bodily fluid and those often contain diseases.
No the hospitals did NOT have warning on ebola. That is quite simply a lie on your part. Nobody knew it was coming here, and nobody if it came here what hospital it would hit. They’re not going to buy thousands of equipment they won’t use every time there’s an ebola outbreak.
I predict you’ll keep on this forever. Here’s basic reality: what you’re demanding was not possible. Period. So you’re thinking they failed because they did not do the impossible is, frankly, rather pathetic. Good bye. Enjoy your wrong headed factually challenged rantings. I will not be reading any more of them.
Reagan’s quote was “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.’ “

Not only that, but time’s not up for them yet. There’s still a week in quarantine left for them.
Thanks for the correction..at least I was pretty close :-)
You were very close. I had to go look it up to be sure!
