The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said there was "clearly" a breach in protocol that led to a Texas health care worker contracting Ebola after treating a Liberian man who later died from the virus, although authorities do not yet know what that breach was.
"We're deeply concerned about this new development," Dr. Thomas Frieden said in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday. "I think the fact that we don't know of a breach in protocol is concerning because clearly there was a breach in protocol. We have the ability to prevent the spread of Ebola by caring safely for patients."
"The fact is that the individual who became ill was, as per protocol, self monitoring. Immediately when they developed symptoms they isolated themselves, they were promptly isolated at the hospital so that any further spread from that individual was stopped," Frieden added.

And... if a so-called ‘breach in protocol’ is so rare according the CDC, why is MRSA (methicillin resistant staph aureus) throughout virtually EVERY hospital in the country? There are so many ‘holes’ in our isolation procedures. I am a nurse of more than forty years...I have watched the entire system disintegrate...yes, there are breaches...in the education programs for nurses and as well as doctors. Breaches in protocol have been part of this issue from the beginning, just as is so with most of our healthcare now.

All of the books I’ve read in the past that had to do with deadly virus research sure differs from what’s happening in Dallas. As I recall these researchers in space suits had to go through a couple of heavy decontamination procedures before removing suits.
The last speaker... was escorted off... the doctor who said they were turning over the 22 bed ICU unit to an ebola unit... Sounds like they expect more ebola cases - OR they’re concerned they can’t decontaminate the space...
“A single inadvertent slip can result in contamination,” Frieden said. “In terms of safe and effective care, we had already begun several days ago to ramp up the education and training of health care workers at this facility.”
He also explained we must maintain a balance in the use of personal safety equipment adding “putting more on isn’t always safer. It may make it harder, to provide effective care.”

Thank you! The question why the family and first emergency room handlers have not contracted and how a nurse in protective gear has contracted has been driving me nuts. Could the nurse have handeled blood and the others just contact with bodily fluids?

The reality is simple re how these people in Spain and in Dallas got Ebola.
The CDC protective garb recommendations, before Ebola started happening in America is not adequate and dangerous.
Therefore any training how to protect the hospital workers based on CDC recommendations was dangerous and not helpful.
Almost as if he is directly working to spread this virus with his Orwellian double speak. Be afraid...very afraid.
He often contradicts his own statements in the same sentence. He has now done this on multiple occasions. Much like Obama does. It is the mark of someone that wants to put out contradictory official statements on purpose in order to have it ‘both ways’ so to speak. Nothing solid can ever been pinned on them.
