The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said there was "clearly" a breach in protocol that led to a Texas health care worker contracting Ebola after treating a Liberian man who later died from the virus, although authorities do not yet know what that breach was.
"We're deeply concerned about this new development," Dr. Thomas Frieden said in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday. "I think the fact that we don't know of a breach in protocol is concerning because clearly there was a breach in protocol. We have the ability to prevent the spread of Ebola by caring safely for patients."
"The fact is that the individual who became ill was, as per protocol, self monitoring. Immediately when they developed symptoms they isolated themselves, they were promptly isolated at the hospital so that any further spread from that individual was stopped," Frieden added.

He got the proverbial “hook”.
+1
Consider it a “breach” that we have not limited the entry of airline passengers from Ebola-infested African countries, or made serious efforts to control our borders. Our fearless leaders have put us in this position, and they are responsible for the outcome.
... they were promptly isolated at the hospital....
We need SEPARATE locations for Ebola patient isolation, otherwise our hospitals may not be able to handle ongoing healthcare needs. Kind of like MASH units.
Consider it a breach in a hazmat suit. “Our” CDC has been caught with their hazmat pants down.
The “breach” probably happened the first time he went to the hospital and was not admitted. If so, no telling how many more were infected.
I think there are more than one being tested right now due to showing symptoms. Dallas County Health Department head was asked on local news program a direct question about others showing symptoms. He refused to answer but said, ‘Don’t be surprised if we have another patient’.
Wait for it...
Dr. Friedenstein cannot contain the monster.
Did I hear this correctly?
Live presser:
Dr. Varga: Not one of the monitored 48 ...
Frieden, CDC: “We cast the net wide”
Patient as in singular? Or patientS?
No it was during the second visit.she had multiple exposures to him so was obviously in the loop of care during his stay at hospital. Already confirmed. A nurse who was in FULL protective gear.
Don’t count on our inglorious politically correct officials to do anything of the sort .... Just makes too much. Sense . On the contrary, let’s just allow anyone with symptoms to check in at anytime anywhere-— to include urgent care centers, retail clinics ..... Anywhere that health care is provided ....
Correction: s/b Dr. David Lakey, (not Varga).
“authorities do not yet know what that breach was”
Then how do they know there WAS a breach?!
This sounds like misdirection to me.
Patients.
I bet by tomorrow we will have 1 or 2 more confirmed.
And the packers.
They have no clue of what happened.
Absolutely 100% correct. Even Liberia knows that. If we don't start constructing these field facilities immediately, stateside, we are self annihilating.
Already showing signs here of hospital and CDC gearing up to point fingers at each other. This is what that is statement is all about. Was obvious watching local presser earlier this morning. Hospital said several times: ‘we were following all of CDC guidelines’.
Makes sense ..
