He knew he’d been exposed and he knew he was exhibiting symptoms, so he fled to the US. Once there, he attempted to get himself admitted to hospital. But, he believed the high priests of medicine rather than his own lying eyes and went home with painkillers, relieved that he’d been told what he desperately wanted to hear. Then, he continued to sicken.
If he was exhibiting symptoms in Monrovia, why did they let him on the plane after taking his temperature? If he was exhibiting symptoms on his trip to the US, why did he not infect fellow passengers?

It's quite possible he was in a state of deep denial. He'd passed the check at the Monrovia airport. And, now, here this American doc was dismissing him as a routine case despite his having told the nurse he was from the hot zone.
