If the family can sue then why aren’t they responsible for the medical debt?
I thought I’d read she was a relative of his landlord.
Lots of information was posted about her. Many surrounding her fell ill and died. She was an ordinary person, no terrorist.
I’d like to know the immigration status of his “folks” here.
I thought the narrative went something like this —”Duncan and a bunch of others had ‘contact’ with her. The others all got Ebola and died and so did she. Duncan freaked out, called his relatives in Texas, and they told him to LIE to the screeners and come to America, that the o-man would take care of him, and that if he died, they’d all snivel and sue everybody and get rich. OK, the last part is my own. I think he got it from a hooker, and I think that is why mum’s the word.
But based on what few facts are in existence, I don't perceive a “terrorist” element, more a visa game that would enable him to come to the USA and overstay it/medical tourism aspect.
I would like to know when he actually bought the travel tickets.
We know he quit/was fired from his job on Sept 5. We know his heaviest exposure was on Sept 15.
We know the pregnant woman was the daughter in the household where he rented a room for quite some time.
We know when she died, and that so did several others who had close contact with her care, within days of her death.
I do not understand anyone claiming the hospital was at fault in any way for not treating him for ebola initially, since it appears extremely obvious HE knew he had it, but refrained from telling anyone about his actual exposure until way too late.
All the previous patients medi-vacced from Liberia were known to have the virus, and sent to specialized medical facilities that had had time to prepare for them, and get the limited experimental anti-ebola drugs sent in.
He stupidly lied at every possible step, and he died.
There doesn’t seem to be any conspiracy here, only Duncan’s dishonesty and poor decisions. He likely signed his own death certificate by not being much more forthcoming during his first trip to the hospital. It’s kind of odd that there haven’t been any radiating Ebola cases for his family, their neighbors and friend or the hospital workers in view of his condition at the first trip to the emergency room. We’ve gotten a big break hopefully.
I find this whole story odd. Furthermore, either the gubbamint is hiding new infections or Ebola is not as contagious as they are saying that it is.
It’s been about 18 or 19 days since reports began hitting the headlines regarding Duncan in Dallas.
No new infections???
When did he apply for and when he receive the visa?
From: http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-thomas-eric-duncan-vigil-20141008-story.html
“Karsiah Duncan, who also goes by Eric, had invited his father to Texas this summer to attend his high school graduation. The visa didn’t come through until August, relatives said. He had not seen his father since he was 3 years old, when he and his mother immigrated to the U.S. The elder Duncan stayed behind in Africa.”
I read an earlier report that he came on a “Fiance Visa”. ( http://www.uscis.gov/family/family-us-citizens/fiancee-visa/fiancee-visas ) Those take a few months to process. In any case, it appears that the Visa request process was initiated well before he was exposed. The critical item of interest seems to be: When did he buy the tickets?” Most people will buy those far enough ahead of time to get a lower price.
I doubt it was a conspiracy - he became afraid for his life and tried to give himself a chance to live even thought it meant risking others - might have made it if our hospitals were really as prepared as the CDC and Obama say they are...

You are raising some good points. I have not seen much on this girl either. The most likely scenario is that she was just an unlucky nobody but the trail backwards from Duncan ought to be followed anway. Of course the intelligence agencies may have done so but they’ll keep any results hidden from us lowly peons.
I want to know if she was his only exposure or if he could have been exposed much earlier.
And I’d like to know when the Healthcare worker in Texas was exposed to him, and if it was prior to the ebola protocols going into effect, or if she got it despite the ebola protocols.
Something doesn't feel right about about this breakout...For one thing it started in three areas of Africa simultaneously - (that's a first for Ebola), it started in cities rather than in jungle areas, early reports said patients were looking healthy almost up until the point of death, and for the first time 'health care workers' who had dealt with other outbreaks of Ebola - we're getting the disease.
Those early reports might have been true - might not have been. Early stuff is often confused. But this has a different feel to it... I don't know if that extends to Duncan - but it's also the first time ebola has come to the United States.
You're a perceptive person Trueblackman - is there anything else you're picking up on? I know I'm feeling uncomfortable with this... I'm not sure why.
