Good time to repeat the likely false but illustrative story that troops can be punished for damaging government property if they get a sunburn.

One former airman reportedly said that after he awoke from a nap on the beach with a terrible sunburn, a technical sergeant threatened to give him an Article 15 for damaging government property. Let’s not forget that the term “GI” means “Government Issue”.

The story has no merit, but seriously, the military doesn’t need addicts in its ranks and they have ever right to control addiction.

My (late) husband said it happened to him in Africa, although it wasn’t a serious threat, it was mentioned.

Yet, the Class VI still exists on just about every base.

The typical base has internet connectivity.

Food is still sold in grocery stores.

High performance motorcycles are still allowed to be operated.

High performance autos are still allowed to be operated.

Mountain bikes are still allowed.

Motocross bikes are still allowed.

Skateboards are still allowed.

Softball games are still played.

Football games are still played.

Basketball games are still played.

When do we stop the “addictive” behavior that all of these and many more present?

They can all present a readiness issue...health issues, etc.

Why is tobacco the one “evil” that must be destroyed for the nanny staters?
