OK Huck, Be the first to bolt the RINO Party. Maybe you could 1) Start the Liberty Party long talked about—or the USIP (Us spin off of the UKIP) 2) Join an existing Party like the Conservative or Reform Party, 3) Just go independent. Advise to you Huck, Don’t Run for President! Run for Congress or Senate. You tried to run for the big job and your super religious stand just can’t cut it. Most do not want a preacherman as President (we tried with Carter—remember). Your message can hit solid ground as a Senator or Congressman. Your term as Governor wasn’t that great-—BUT as the first to move out of the GOP might help the 3rd Party come into existence in a real way. Now 3rd Parties are a sort of Protest Place—we need to use UKIP as a template—They are out polling the Tories now—and could become the second most popular party in the UK. The old Canard that 3rd Party means Democrat Victory shouldn’t be seen as a trueism.

You are correct it is a canard at the state and local level.
If however, a Huck ran as a third part candidate the Dems going in with 40% of the vote would win a plurality and thus win the electoral college.
