I agree with Huckabee. I am not social warrior, but things like this matter. Whats next? Polygamy? Marrying children?
They do matter, but there are times to emphasize them and times to emphasize other things. Who knows what the climate will be in 2016, but ‘14 is a time to emphasize other things IMO.
Well, there's a lot of variance in definitions — it used to be that young women of 13 or 14 were married off (many cultures have a special coming of age celebration of a girl's first period, the biological signal that she'd of child-bearing age), nowadays "children" can be up to 26. So, using that definition, there's a vast number of people in America's history who married children.
(This is, I believe, the result of having so many arbitrary ages — instead of a single debarkation-point like 18 being the age of majority and sticking with that. [Well, I would be fine with three 'classes' insofar as age goes: 0..12, 13..17, 18+])
Whats next? Polygamy? Marrying children?
There’s a good possibility that the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) will be ratified in the Illinois House this fall. The Illinois House has a Democrat super majority.
The ERA Amendment states: [Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.]
ERA was ratified in the Illinois State Senate days before the spring recess. If enacted, left-winged extremists say ERA can continue where it left off in the ratification process. With the liberal climate in the Justice Department, anything is possible.
Ramifications of this amendment will affect every law pertaining to gender as well as Constitutionally protect perversion.
Illinois citizens should contact their legislators and urge them to oppose ERA. (I was shocked to see ‘conservative’ Illinois State Senators support this Amendment.)
