A user on the social media network Reddit has posted a heart-wrenching open letter to her unborn child saying she plans to get an abortion next week because she is just not ready to become a mother.
In the letter, the Reddit user says she is both sorry and not sorry over her decision to abort her baby and added that she doesn’t understand why she doesn’t feel the excitement about her baby that expectant moms are supposed to feel.
Ultimately, the woman says she just isn’t prepared to bring a baby into the world, though she has already done so, because she can’t yet provide her baby with all of the material things she was fortunate to have growing up.
I cant bring you here. Not like this,” she concludes.
Anyone who is facing a pregnancy like this could easily consider adoption or could find helpful counseling at places like OptionLine from people who can help them work through these kinds of issues. Abortion is not a solution.
The Blaze has more on this excruciating-to-read letter:
In the note titled, I am getting an abortion next Friday. An Open Letter to the Little Life I Wont Get to Meet, the writer Reddit user scaredthrowingaway spoke directly to the child, saying she simply isnt ready to be a parent.
I am sorry that this is goodbye. Im sad that Ill never get to meet you. You could have your fathers eyes and my nose and we could make our own traditions, be a family, the letter reads. But, Little Thing, we will meet again. I promise that the next time I see that little blue plus, the next time you are in the same reality as me, I will be ready for you.
Little Thing, I want you to be happy. More than I want good things for myself, I want the best things for the future, the letter continues. Thats why I cant be your mother right now. I am still growing myself. It wouldnt be fair to bring a new life into a world where I am still haunted by ghosts of the life Ive lived.
Little information is known about the author or her alleged circumstances. But after receiving some supportive messages from the Reddit community, she responded that shes glad she isnt alone in coping with her abortion decision.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is hard. I feel sick and awful for not wanting something that, at the same time, I want so badly, she later added. But I feel better knowing Im not alone and now that I see it all written out, theres less madness bumping around in my head, which is nice.
Don't be so sure.

I have a new little granddaughter, just 8 days old. I look at her and can’t imagine what the “providers” of this service must be like on the inside.
It’s the savages who kill these little ones, and the politicians who protect them that I think will be very sorry one day.
I’m not sure when women became too cowardly to allow their child to be a adopted, but they sure have. I thought women were supposed to be proud when they got themselves knocked-up unexpectedly these days. (And I say this as a woman)
“not ready to become a mother”
I guess she never heard of the word “adoption” not to mention the fact that having an abortion can result in you NEVER becoming a mother. There’s a lot of childless old women walking around out there who made that mistake of assuming there would be no damage to them.
They will never meet again. Her decision to end the life of her child is ultimate and final. There is no “one more chance”.
And given that childless women like me would happily pay women like this a lot of money to carry the pregnancy to term and allow me to adopt their child, there’s even an available financial motive to have the baby. It boggles the mind.
I have one, too.. she's now 5 years old, full of energy and promise. I would be honored to give my own life to save hers if that necessity ever came. I can't imagine how anyone could not regard babies as "not human."
*I can’t imagine how anyone could regard babies as “not human.” *
Perhaps they will meet on Judgement Day; albeit briefly...as child is dispatched to his/her eternal reward, and 'mother' is consigned to eternal damnation.
True but I suspect this is just a throwaway line for her, not a reflection of a true belief in an afterlife, otherwise she would not be writing this.
I,a guy, grew up being taught that the “typical” female, though imperfect (like everyone who’s ever walk this earth),was basically more moral, more decent, more worthy of respect than was the “typical” male. These days I’m not so sure of that.
Oh, no dear... the madness, anguish, regret and crushing guilt haven't even begun yet...
‘Little Thing’...OMG. Sterilize this woman.
Lord, have mercy. Another woman whose mind is twisted enough to think that killing her child preemptively is better than gambling on a hard life.
I wonder how long it’ll be before there’s cultural acceptance of killing children after birth (maybe up to age 3? 7? etc.?) for the same sort of mind-fogged reasons...
Diabolical.
It’s difficult to imagine - their minds must be twisted. Especially the providers of later term abortion.
Full of energy is right! Enjoy (even though it’s tough to keep up sometimes!)
Wow 8 days, congratulations. That is a brand new new NEW person. Yes and I agree with you, there is something mentally deranged in these people. Like this faux “War on women” they keep screaming about. If you think about it, what they want is the right to kill the kid all the way up to full term. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t abortion already legal up to 24 weeks? So they want to have abortion legalized AFTER that 24 weeks? So where does it end? When the kid is halfway out of the womb that the women should have the right to say “You know what, I changed my mind” That is mentally deranged the way they are thinking here. It’s bad enough that we have abortion at ALL but they want it full term!!! Kermit Gosnell and all that, it’s as sick as it gets!
