Over and over, the books reference acts committed by the Jews that the Lord found abhorrent. So, as prophesied, the Jews ended up conquered and exiled by the Assyrians and Babylonians.
Today, I read about acts that I believe are just as abhorrent to the Lord. About a year or so ago, I read about some Israeli woman who "married" a dolphin.
And I hear that abortion is prevalent in Israel.
I can't speak for the Lord, but I do wonder why Israeli leaders don't publicize their repentance for abominable acts and policies.
Maybe if they come back to the Lord, the Lord will come back to the Israelis.
By the way, the same applies to us here in the US ("One nation UNDER GOD").
The Jews (House of Judah) weren’t exiled by the Assyrians. That was the House of Israel (called the “lost ten tribes”). The Jews, Levites and Benjamites were conquered by Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylon. The Assyrians were repelled from the Jews’ land (Judah, or Judaea) during Hezekiah’s rule.
